iPod Shuffle 3rd generation dock
Hi, I have an iPod Shuffle 3rd generation and was considering buying a docking station so I can play music in the kitchen but looking online and in stores like Comet etc, I presume they don't make them for these or you have to buy some sort of adaptor so they'll fit in the ones that are on the market?
Can anyone give any advice? Thanks. |

As they don't have a universal 30-pin dock socket, they can only output sound via the 3.5mm headphone jack. Just get a normal iPod dock but make sure it has an auxiliary socket for a normal MP3 player. Then buy a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and hook up your shuffle that way, or 3.5mm to 2RCA if its a home system.

The only docks I ever remember seeing specifically for the 2nd generation were pretty basic, but expensive for what they offered.
Its possible/probable that all you'll be able to get is a line/headphone input on a more generic set of speakers. I've got an iPod clock/speaker/dock thing at home, and its got both the regular dock and one for the first gen shuffle. I tried connecting the 2nd gen shuffle via its supplied dock, it just wouldn't work. |
