I know this is common in soaps when a bit tournament is on, but yet again no-one seems to want to watch or talk about Euro 2004.

What would stop a few lines of dialongue being pre-recorded, mentioning how England won (or lost grrr), and edit it in to the tape before broadcast.

Eastenders it was mentioned by Martin & The Ferrairas, but mostly they were watching that black & white comedy with that lion.
What was so funny about it that made Jim giggle.

Corrie didn't even give a mention to the FA Cup. Wouldn't most pubs like The Vic or Rovers Return get a big screen telly in ?!

Because of the very tournament you mention soaps (esp "Corrie") have been juggled about so that they may not even be showing in the right week let alone the right day.

Why should they bow even further to the bloody football!

I remember a few years ago EE was due to be on just before an England v Germany match (Euro 96 at a guess, sorry old age, can't remember things clearly anymore ) and rather brilliantly (not something I say about EE these days) the episode ended with the whole crowd in The Vic settling down to watch the match.

The opening of yesterdays Easteners where Billy, Jim and the Fowlers/Derek were watching that lion programme was quite well done I think - quite reflective, as I've always thought that they did those montages of different scenes quite well - what the hell were they watching though?

Re: the football, it's unusual to see a whole family (Ferrieras) watching during a time whenj it must be quite hard to gauge exactly what time it would be on at - wonder what match they were watching really?

This is sort of off topic, but everyone must remember on Corrie when Norris was one of the helpers at the Commonwealth games. When he was given the job of holding the medal cushion and ordered everyone to watch, but no one did and all we could see was Norris on the telly in the background.

I can only remember one time when eastenders did something like that when it was the Queen Mothers Funeral and Dot and Pauline were in the laundrette watching it, which they recorded in the day.
I was thinking the exact thing last nite during Eastenders such as flags mentioning, but it would be impossible with flags as if England were knocked out then they wouldnt keep the flag up, and obviously when they mention it they would have to change scenes and things, although i can't see it being to much hassle filming to scenes, one with england winning, one with us losing, and then just put in which ever appropriate one.
Although the Ferrerias and Billy (and maybe martin) said they were watching the football.

Eastenders uses football for story lines but doesn't even try to keep up to date with what's really happening. Alfie and Gary are supposed to both be massive West Ham fans yet neither of them mentioned what was probably the biggest game in the club's history (the Division 1 playoff final last month).
