I totally agree with the opener...I can now read the magazine cover to cover in 20 mins...

It has dumped down greatly...seems full off 'shame' pages, and BB rejects and the like!

Think it needs to revert back to the old style...its gone downhill since Mark Firth left IMO!

I do like the fashion pages though...

And the Louis Spence column - Why???
Don't see what all the hype is about personally!

Yeah ive never watched the Pineapple thing and dont get what the fuss is about... but im sick of all the z listers and the addiction they have to twilight and the hills.

As i said previously as well if i wanted a fashion mag i'd buy one why oh why heat...

not one person in this thread likes the new look heat, wonder how thats effecting their figures if you times it by thousands?

Where I work in a supermarket overlooks the stand for all these mags and you have to laugh how the front covers contradict themselves, one will say jordan and alex its all over and the one next to it they are trying for a baby. A few times too i've seen a juicy headling splashed right across the front cover so gone for a quick peek and theres one small paragraph of a non story and pic on the gossip page, not what you expect at all.

I used to buy them all years ago, but wouldn't even consider it now as I just read online.

The only time I read Heat is if a friend has it. It's okay I suppose as it will have a good interview, but that Lucie Cave annoys me beyond belief. She seems to think she is some sort of mini celbrity or something. Very delusional.

They do seem anti size zero though, I suppose that's one good thing about them.
AAAh! I thought I was the only one who felt this way about Lucie Cave! And I agree with everyone else, it's completely lost its sense of humour - the point of Heat (for me anyway) was that it was a celebrity magazine, but took the pizz all the time and was aware of its own shallowness - we WERE ALL IN ON THE JOKE. But now its full of pieces about how terrible and evil Jordan/Katie Price is and with no hint of irony. The only saving grace was the letters page, but now they seem to have replaced the funny person there as well. WHY HEAT? WHYYYY?!? *anguished look*

Heat started going downhill when it started focussing on Big Brother rejects and fawning over Cheryl Cole.
I haven't bought it for about a year, I prefer More and Grazia now.

Well, if they want to keep with the times, they need to be reading this site daily. I expect at least a couple of them do.

Completely agree with the OP. I bought Heat religiously every week for about 5 or 6 years, but since Mark frith left, it has become a dumbed down tweenie mag and I've since stopped buying it.

When they started in with the whole "OMG! R-Patz is sooo hot!" crud, I knew I would be parting company with my beloved publication. I mean, what person over the age of consent actually talks like that??

They have a page dedicated to hot young guys, none of whom I have ever heard of (I thought male pin-up's went out of fashion circa 1983...?) and they obsess over the same celebrities week after week,,,,Cheryl Cole (or 'Chezza' as Heat like to dub her - shortened names are so much easier, right?), Lady Gaga, bloody Jedward, and some bint called Snookie from some obscure reality show feauture in almost every issue.
Also, as I don't watch Twilight, Glee or find Take That pants wettingly hot, there isn't much left for me to relate to.

It does make you wonder what demographic they are aiming the magazine at nowadays......

I've never heard of most of the "celebs" they seem to feature. I do like the Spotted page though. I don't buy it regularly though anymore.

If someone is brave enough they could send the link to the magazine bosses - or send the whole thread in a paper copy.

Good idea! Although perhaps some Lucie fans could big her up a bit first.

I took the plunge. I cancelled my Heat subscription. I still receive it until the end of Feb, so it doesn. Feel like the end of an era just yet. When I received this week's today and on the front cover was "beach bodies" yet again, I knew I'd made the right decision.

Fat beach bodies with their cellulite circled? Or incredibly skinny celebs showing a tiny ripple of tummy when they sit down? Or the obligatory 'frolicking-in-the-waves-oops-I've- lost-my-bikini-top' shot of some desperado?

I know. I'm seriously thinking about stopping getting it as well. In today's 'beach bodies' there is a picture of Charlotte Church with a fag hanging out of her mouth, legs wide open, scowling, bit of weight back on and they're going on about how fantastic she looks and how she shows you don't have to pose to look good in holiday pictures.

At least they used to actually have the guts to say 'X looks awful' or 'What does X think they're wearing', now they dress it up as caring sharing when we all now it's just for a gawp at celebrities looking ropey.

They used to be bitchy and irreverent and funny but now they've got these fake moralising pieces where Kay Ribero talks about Pete n Abbey. And it's like FFS, I don't care what Lucy Cave thinks about Cheryl and Ashley, just shut up. All the books reviewed are dumb chick lit, the films are all rom coms.

They're going to introduce a problem page soon I know it. It's just crap, it's like some crap Bella magazine for tweenies with ADHD.

No. What heat do now is print photos of people who are definitely carrying a few pounds with captions next to it saying how amazing they are and how wonderful they look (even though they use a horrible pic because nobody actually want to look at a chubby person looking good, it's really just there for us to bitch at) and with ones of people who are vaguely skinny they have captions about their 'concern' and how they would look better with a few pounds on.

Incidentally heat is a bit touchy about weight issues because I got the 'Crap Spot' of Darren Day walking across Morrison's car park eating a pie and I called him 'fat' but they changed it to curvy.

Actually I called him a fat b****** but I didn't expect them to print the b****** bit. Was surprised they changed the 'fat' though.

Ha! That's exactly what it's become. So sick of it, and I bought Heat from the beginning. I think ever since Frith left it lost it's quirkiness. I still buy the other mags but I haven't had a compulsion to buy Heat for a long time.

LOL - this could literally have been written by me as I feel exactly the same! Well said.

I finally gave in 4 months ago after wavering for about 6 months hoping it would improve but bit the bullet, stopped buying and I have to say I haven't missed the crappy magazine it had become one iota. I had bought the magazine from the very first issue so it's a shame really.

EDIT: I have two kids who at 18 and 23 haven't missed it either! It's obviously too young for them too now

I wouldn't be surprised if the magazine folds in the next couple of years as, like you say, the demographic they've chosen to target might be making them money now but they have a limited attention span in the long run and as soon as the next big 'hip and trendy' magazine comes along they'll drop Heat like a hot potato. Whereas us older more loyal readers would have kept it in circulation if it hadn't dumbed down so much.

I'll join you in an RIP for the Original Heat
