Someone has complained to Amazon that the HDR is not as described and Amazon have now placed a huge banner (which I have never seen before) stating:

"Item Under Review

This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described.

We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may still find this product available from other sellers on this page."

An ill informed customer or Sky mischievousness?

It's only the one seller that has this message. Sounds like it's the seller that's dodgy not the hdr.

Don't think so Graham, my link links to the main HDR page, and the warning is explaining why Amazon itself no longer sell it as they did a few weeks ago when I last checked.

No it appears to be the product as this page (different seller) carries the same message
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-FOXSAT...1092427&sr=1-1

Checked a couple of others they also give the same message.

Did I not read a post on here (or possibly on AVForums) that someone was going to complain they were not fit for purpose because of the failure to recover from a power cut in the correct manner? Perhaps this is that complaint in an attempt to get Humax to issue a software fix.

Maybe they are selling HDs as HDRs or have a smaller HD in them.

Its no reflection on the product, just a reflection on the sellers.

doesnt have the warning.

Although the box should be able to recover from a power cut, when has the HDR ever been described as being able to recover from a power cut ?

Although he did not say he was going to report it as unfit for purpose he did suggest Humax would have problems if someone did. Perhaps someone read that and did it off their own bat.

Neither of those are 'official' Amazon listings, they are just two duplicate listings for the 500GB HDR submitted by different marketplace sellers. The fact is the main HDR is the 320GB, this was sold by Amazon for years, and until recently was consistently in the top 50 Electronics & Photo items. Amazon are specifically saying they are not selling the item due to a complaint, not any marketplace sellers.

That did occur to me, but is there any actual definition of PVR that states it must recover from power cuts? If this is the issue and Amazon can't be persuaded to sell until they fix it, Humax must be losing 100s of sales a week at least considering the HDR was once in the top 10.

Don't think they will have lost many sales yet as it's only be on today.

Correct - and for the record, it wasn't me guv - honest
I only posed the question on this forum

As davemurgatroyd says - I was making the point that IF the product were deemed to be not performing as expected, (Sale of Goods Act gives some scope for this), AND a major retailer(s) had to give refunds, then Humax might take more notice if the retailers complained.

If I remember correctly, Bob Cat said something about Humax wanting this problem fixed but can't get it elevated in the Korean engineering schedule

It's gone now! Amazon back selling at £229.95, I wonder if Bob_Cat will tell us what the (alleged) problem was?

I see you got glowing praise in one of the HDR reviews on Amazon!
It's rather old, that was back in the days when you could not delete while recording and when a non freesat scan deleted your schedule and a auto freesat scan ditched your red button ITV-HD reservations .........

We have not received notification from Amazon as to why this happened, normally we receive an email due a customer notifying them that the product had an issue e.g. Missing/Incorrect remote control or something similar.

Seems to be back up now without any intervetion from us, so unsure what the reason is.

As already been hinted at, just a put down from Sky’s rep’s.
Allegedly.

Why post? I expect because this is about a Freesat + box and this is the Freesat + forum and so it has info about Freesat + in.

Work for Sky? I expect he doesn't

Hardly, when I suggested it was Sky mischievousness?

Do you have any proof it was a Sky employee? I wonder if Humax would consider taking legal action for lost sales as the HDR rank has dropped quite a bit since that warning was put up.

Allegedly + = A joke

A drop in interest in the Foxsat HDR is more likely to be linked to the interest being shown for Humax’s Freeview HD recorder.

Well, can't be sure really, not sure if stats are availiable but the banner may well have had an impact which may = 100s of sales. It seems pretty dubious that Amazon put it up there, as it clearly took less than a day to establish the complaint was without foundation- surely they should have firmly established that there was a problem before doing that.
