What accessories, apps are a must have. The screen gets very dirty very quickly, is there a (helpful response please) way of cleaning it or keeping the dirt off. The screen protectors for the iphone aren't great, bubbles appear fast and dirt gets under them.

I don't find it bothers me so long as it's just finger grease, but if you eating KFC at the time it's going to be an issue.

I use paper wipes sold as glasses/lens wipes and box of 50 about a £1, the are moist with an alcohol based fluid. But I only clean it once every 2-3 days.

You could use a cloth that comes with itouch (and probably iphone, too), if you got one. Any microfiber cleaning cloth should work.

I have the same problem with my itouch's screen, it gets dirty very quick. I lost the cleaning cloth that came with it so I just use a tissue or lens wipes sometimes.

Bubbles? Invisible shield type "wet" application films don't allow for bubbles if properly applied. That being said its better to simply use a case for something as large as an ipad, marring the screen with some cheap plastic screen protector is just ruining the experience.

Yes the iPad screen gets quite grubby quite quickly. Best not to get too hung up about it - it's gonna happen however much you use the device. I give my screen a polish every few days with the following products:

iKlear Apple Polish - This is pricey but worth it - I've just bought a new kit after I ran out of fluid on the last one and that lasted 6 years! I use it on everything - iPods, our Macbook and iMac, the TV, the Nintendo DS. Leaves everything glassy smooth and smear free. The microfibre cloth that comes with the kit is of very high quality and helps get your kit back to pristine.

Not all microfibre cloths are the same - the closest I've found to the quality of the iKlear cloth on the cheap is this (yellow duster) from Lakeland.

Also from Lakeland is the E-cloth which works with a little spritz of water on the equipment - I'm talking a fine mist, achievable with a Muji pump spray. This leaves the screen smear free also, at a fraction of the cost (well 1/4... which is a fraction ) of the iKlear kit.

Some of the case prices can be pretty astounding, so I opted for this from Amazon. Cheap but looks the business. Although the case has a built in stand making it ideal for movies, even internet, it is too upright for typing.

As for Apps - for gaming try AirAttack HD - on the app store for 59p and a fairly decent old skool shoot 'em up. Osmos HD is a slow but beautiful strategy game. Seek out Bebot - basically a sound generator but multitouch and (relatively) beefy pad speaker make this muchos fun.

Anyway, enjoy your iPad

I just use a cleaning cloth from an old pair of glasses. The shops always give them away when you get a new pair. Works a treat.

Some of these are iPad, some are iPhone

Accuweather - Good free weather app
Dropbox - Excellent online server space for you to transfer files on and off devices
IMDB - internet movie database. Full resource of all movie info, actors, etc.
Remote - Allows you to run itunes from your ipod/pad/phone
Rightmove - Good property search app
Shazam - listens to music clips and tells you what the song is
Planets - Good for telling what the star constellations are that you can see
Flixter - good for what's on at the pics.
iBooks - very slick book and pdf reader
Epicurious - Recipes and stuff if you're in to cooking.
Uzu - amazing by useless physics demo with swirly fireworky things.
TV Guide - good free tv lister
BBC news app - Speaks for itself
Teamviewer - If you have parents who know nuthin about computers you can run their PC from this app and sort out those 'something popped up and I don't know what it means' questions

Games
Angry Birds - like crush the castle but with birds.
Osmos - sort of life game where you absorb things smaller than you to get bigger until you can kill everything else. Very well done.
Harbormaster/Flight control - Neatly done similar games. Draw the lines on the screen to get the targets to where they need to go. Looks easy but isn't.
Solitaire City - excellent mixture of card games and nicely designed too.
AirAttack - Good scrolly shooty game
Labyrinth2 - Excellent rollerball maze game
Finger physics (iphone) - good little thinking game
Cat physics (iphone) - good little thinking game
