Nicola Roberts has reportedly signed a deal with Sony Music

Could be interesting, I really like her vocals and her solo song It's Magic,

Don't see her as a solo star though

i agree with not being able to see her as a solo star. i don't really listen to girls aloud but when nadine or cheryl sings they catch my attention more than the others.

Oh no. Let's be real now. Have we got another spice girls on our hands where they are all gonna go solo. That's 3 now. Well 4 cos Sarah has dabbled in some solo stuff but that's just for soundtracks.

She's not charismatic or energetic enough for my liking. I can picture the video already...

I saw this in the showbiz forum but thought I'd also write this here: I don't think she's suited to being a solo artist and her voice definitely isn't strong enough.... just my opinion though

Personality/charisma wise I'm not sure-however in my opinion after Nadine her voice is the next best by a country mile. She is always in tune and her live performances are nearly always flawless.

She's a really good singer but I don't think she suits a solo artist. I will have to see what stuff she comes up with

I agree with this. For me, Nicola totally stole the show on the 'Out of control' album. 'Love is pain' is fab.

I can picture her doing Diana Vickers/Ellie Goulding type of indie-pop with the etherial Florence visuals.

That might be the only way it would work.

It would be a big mistake to step into generic dance/pop. She doesn't have the charisma or sex appeal for that, and nobody will buy it.

She is probably the third best known in Girls Aloud, not for the best reasons ('ew the ginger one' etc.), but she'll stand out more than Kimberly and Sarah would for her looks alone.

I could imagine her doing that like the whole Vickers and Goulding but Nicola does't have that star quality. Cheryl has her looks. Nadine has that voice. Nicola has nothing special. I always thought she would stick to fashion, make up etc

I really like her, but I dont think she has the spark to make it as a solo star. I wish her well though.

I agree that it's not easy to see her as a solo star, however I think she could make it work for her although I don't expect massive sales.

All I see her doing is something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1wKCXbrK74

Considering how spectacularly that flopped, oh dear.

So she needs to do something completely out of the box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph4w9uePo2U

Why not? :P

I don't see her as a solo artist in the slightest. Can't see it working but good luck to her.

This is great news, she's the only one out of Girls Aloud who I really wanted a solo album from. But I can't believe there's some people who think Cheryl's better than Nicola! I mean go and listen to Nicola's parts in Untouchable and The Loving Kind, or listen to her solo songs It's Magic and I Say A Prayer For You. She's in a completely different league to Cheryl.

I do think theres a good chance she'll flop though, because the general public don't always have the best taste in pop music (as evidenced by some of the posts on this thread). But as long as I have a Nicola solo album I'll be happy, wherever it charts.

This.

I think she has a fantastic voice,I can remember her singing Shout during Popstars the Rivals and thinking it was brilliant!

She sounds brilliant on Call The Shots and The Loving Kind, I don't really follow Girls Aloud, but those are some of my favourites from GA and she is one of the few in the group who always sounds good live.
