I love it as well. I got her album in March and haven't stopped playing it since . This is definetly my favourite song of hers. Don't think it will chart that well though as she has done little promotion and it's only a digital release. Hope it gets top 10 though.

totally agree i have not seen/heard any promotion, yet the song is brilliant, and yeah my fave song of hers aswell, i love her album. for some reason i dont think it will get top 10 purely because of the lack of promo....

I love it but digital release only + little promotion = a lower chart position than it deserves - probably

It's only 54 in the charts at the moment.

I love it thought it sticks in your head at bedtime though!

Unfortunately this is what happens when you've had a successful album in the charts for a while (and a hit or two from it) , then release low-promo singles from it. It could be the most brilliant song of all time but it's bound to 'flop'.

Just about everyone who is likely to be interested in Ellie Goulding already has the album, and therefore the song, so it's not going to set the charts alight with sales. The best it can do is act as a little boost for album sales, and this is its purpose, really.

It's happening with lots of artists/bands in these days of low single sales and crappy charts dominated by, well, crap!

The writer is now #60 and #30 on itunes. Hope it at least get a place in the top 20. I don't understand why it was only digitaly released with little promo. It had loads of tv play and was a listed on radio one.

I think it's lovely too - better than lots of the songs on her album (but Starry Eyed is also amazing). I was really pleased when I heard it was going to be the next single. It'll be lovely to hopefully have something like that in the charts amongst all the mostly dull, unimaginative, cool-obsessed R&B.

i agree with this, the album has been out for a long long time now.

the charts really dont reflect the best music!

this happened with la roux, in for the kill and bulletproof got to number two then the album was released then two further singles, quicksand (excellent song imo) and im not your toy (awful) and they both bombed because everyone had the album so why buy the single. i think promo has also been a problem of la roux, she was touring at the time so unable to do much if any radio/tv promo.

albums are released far too early - about 20 yrs ago the album was released after all potential singles had been released.

thats very true about la roux... that is a major issue now with artists releasing albums way to early. imo the writer is the best song on that album and had it been realised earlier then it would have done slightly better.

Now at #24 and #44 Does anyone know what position this would give her when combined?

It's a lovely song and she's a very talented lady and very pretty too. Trouble is, I just don't think she has star quality. Sorry Ellie.
