Physical Violence on Big Brother in Other Countries

This is not the first time there’s been physical violence on Big Brother in BB houses in Italy, Portugal and US contestants were thrown out after attacking other housemates in US one hm threatened another with kitchen knife. But in all those cases it was single person who snapped. There is a little chance of saving the show after so many people got involved in physical altercation I’m afraid this is the end of BB5.

After last years fiasco producers overreacted again and put a bunch of exaggerated egomaniacal and volatile characters hoping for fireworks and what happened tonight is the ultimate result of that. Mainstream media has been critical of reality TV for long time and this just might be the event they were looking for to put the final nail in the coffin for the entire genre.

Yeah while there was violence in other countries UK TV standards and attitudes are a lot stricter and less accepting too.

Blimey, why do people keep saying "it's the end of BB." Hardly...they've done everything tthey possibly could to PROVOKE a response like this, so it's hardly going to end the show. They'll be loving it...the show will go on.

Judging from reactions here there might be public outcry and not to mention media, huge rating yes but not for the right reason not many people tune to BB to watch someone physically attacked and just from practical point if half of the housemates walk out there isn’t much of a show left.

Half of them won't walk out though, or they would have done so already, in the heat of the moment. You can't use this forum to guage whether or not there will be public outcry, as us lot watch a hell of a lot more than the general public. Once the Edemol spin machine gets into action they'll soon sort this out. For instance, I noticed on Sundays round-up of last week they managed to erase the cock-up where the house overheard Davian mentioning the bedsit. I have a feeling they will chuck Emma out as a scapegoat, and the show will continue as normal.

Even if they don't walk this seems to be too big to be swept under the carpet and if only Emma is evicted and made a scapegoat her fans (and there are many of them) won't take it very well and I'm not talking just about forum dwellers but public in general. There is a huge difference between arguing and shouting and physical violence and if some of the housemates fear for their safety I don't see how they can continue as normal. Jason looks like ticking bomb I'm not sure even producers would risk more serious incident down the line apart from that any remotely normal interaction between some other housemates is out of the question. Tabloids are sure to pick up on situation as serious to require security guards to be called in and live feeds cut and this will get out among general public. Davina slip up is a minor inconvenience rather then big problem and as you say it was easily overlooked. Victor was spouting gangster bullshit since he entered the house and verbally threatening to hurt Emma if he acted on it provoked or not and kept inside many of the ordinary viewers will be disgusted. As I see it for the moment show is broken beyond repair but I'll reserve judgement on that at least until tonight.
