Bad news, just been to my local shop and they have got christmas confectionary out....chocolate tree decorations and chocolate coins. Also went into Morrisons the other day and they had a christmas biscuit selection on offer.

Anyone else spotted anywhere else that is getting ready for christmas a bit too early?

    Noooo

Saying that, last year I was in Selfridges in Birmingham on the August bank holiday weekend and they had a huge display of Christmas trees and decorations. Couldn't believe it.

I think its slightly more acceptable in stores such as Harrrods, Selfridges etc, as people travel long distances just to visit those places.

The fact that shops have, for many years now, displayed Christmas stock from August onward, says that people do indeed buy this stuff by a considerable amount, else the shops wouldn't do it!

If people didn't buy the stuff at this time of the year then shops wouldn't display them. It's as simple as that.

    So, it's shoppers own fault.

    Eh?

Usually I hate new laws but for this I'll make an exception.

Make this kind of advertising illegal before november, this ridiculous habit of starting the runup to christmas earlier each year is pure greed and ruins it IMO.

but have had to start buying presents early due to finances.

That's one of the advantages of "not doing Christmas".

Christmas shouldn't be allowed in shops or town centres until at least November. The over commercialisation of Christmas has totally ruined it for me. I detest Christmas these days.

No nothing so far. My hubby looked as if I was mad at the weekend as I told him I was going to have a look and see if the mince pies were on the shelves in Tesco's. I really fancied one :o

That reminds me of a discussion I had a few years ago on another forum about Hot Cross Buns. Someone on there was jumping up and down, saying that it was blasphemous to eat them other than on Easter Sunday/Monday, or whenever it is.

We've been doing Christmaswatch on the show for the last couple of weeks. It's amazing how many sightings we've had already from across the country.

I do love christmas, but it does get a bit tiresome when decorations are up in October.

Because I don't want to be reminded of christmas in August. The only thing I enjoy about christmas is being able to spend time with my family for a bit. I couldn't give a stuff about presents.

Lots of people spend too much, eat too much, drink too much and moan for most of January because they are overweight and skint.

There's still A THIRD of the year to go, before xmas. I hate it! I mean, I like going out shopping when it gets dark at 4pm and there's the lovely winteryness of sitting by the fire, etc, but the day itself is horrible!
