its several other similar comments now is it?

and if it wasn't an indication of a racist view if its said one, it somehow does take on racist overtones if its repeated a few times?

how does that work then?

The harem have gone too far this time...anyone would have been angry at emma and michelle returning to the house...and then gloating about it and spreading lies is obviously going to make you flip...victor and jason were right to react how they did...they didnt hurt anyone so there is no problem...emma and michelle must be evicted asap...

she's not racist on account of not making any distinction, where really there is little distinction, in a heated moment.

Again, I disagree. The word gangsta, to me, is about attitude not race. Therefore, she was insulting his colour, not his style.

And, as stated in other threads, Emma has made other similar comments and not always in the 'heat of the moment'.

To make one comment is careless, to make two is stupid, to carry on making them is, I'm afraid, racist.

I think a lot of people are making opinions based on too little facts. I saw the live feed, I saw E4+1 and I've been listening to what the housemates have been saying since. We know very little for sure.

For instance - Victor "pushing" Nadia could be as simple as pushing her back to get her away from swinging at Jay. Also, originally it was Jay that tipped the table, and now it might be Nadia? We also heard about some sort of fight between Nadia and Van, but we dont know what happened there either.

I'm not defending anyone's actions (They are all pathetic for even going on the show but I'm not going to go there), I'm simply saying that until I see unedited (I wont) footage of the incident from start to finish I can't blame anyone. Ask yourself this. Endemol (sic?) are the only people with the footage, and they chose to take Emma out of the equation and not immediately evict Victor and Jay. I think that should tell you that we don't know what really happened yet. There are two sides to this story. The truth and the truth Endemol want you to have.

Although we agree on almost everything, I don't see your logic there. That's almost a Dr Roy Meadows argument, isn't it?

Four ducks in row doesn't make a goose.

Now THAT's a weird analogy ... that might be my best/worst yet!

Here we go again.............

When the hm first entered the house, Emma and Victor had a conversation about offensive words where Emma mentioned the word n*gger. We can therefore deduce that, stupid as Emma is, she knows this to be an offensive word.

Emma then later calls Victor a n*gger from the safety of the bedsit. Later she tells him to stop 'acting black'.

Words take on a racist view if repeated when a person knows full well that they will cause offense to another, and continues regardless. Emma knew what she was saying, and the effect it would have.

maybe not articulated too well - my point is that Emma knew she was being offensive, and carried on anyway......

Exactly the way I see it.

Just another viewpoint:

1) Used the N-word in a conversation about offensive words;
2) Used it in an impersonation of Victor;
3) Used the word 'black' instead of 'gangsta' in the middle of a row.

So that's 3 incidents in the whole time in the house.

It could be argued that that's not really 'carrying on anyway'.

As I said, just a different way of looking at the same set of circumstances.

Emmas problem is that she associates "blackness" with a bad attitude. If it s a white person they get judged on what they say or do, but if its a black person their race or skin colour becomes the issue, not their actions. this sadly reinforces racist sterotypes and is totally wrong.

Lets take Emmas sterotypes:

Was Emma acting like a typical ugly person?

Was Emma acting like someone with a lisp?

Those are all physical characteristics she has, but that has nothing to do with what she said. She said what she did because she is clearly uneducated and a mental midget, and is a terrible bigot who can't control her hatred and disdain for black people.

All the trouble was a direct result of the harem's actions. They deserve to be punished.

but that stereotype exists - the gangsta / ghetto thing. yes? and its predominantly made up of young black males? yes?

i've explained these already - but i don't see how comments suddenly take on racist overtones simply through repetition?

I think the racists overtones come from her use of the n-word and the fact that she said he was acting "black"...

Is that overtoney enough for you or would you like to see her BNP membership card before you'll believe that she's a racist (and thick to boot)...?
