I have to admit I did not know whether to laugh or be outraged at the idea of the police investigating. I cannot imagine who would actually ring the police about this.

Unfortunately though once a complaint is made, particularly one that has some substance, the police are duty bound to investigate. Given that there appear to have been a number of complaints about the same thing, they would have to react pretty quickly especially for something so high profile. Hopefully common sense will prevail and the police will take no further action. It certainly is not really in the public interest to do so and no-one was actually injured as far as I can work out.

They may however be interested in the "blue smarties " that Dan mentioned today .He asked did anyone find them last night, and later on still inferred that Emma must have taken them.

Several people have made complaints. It is entirely reasonable for the police to "look into it". I know, you know, c4 knows, endemol knows, even the police know that nothing will come of it.

No, a case only becomes sub judice one charges have been brought.

Even if the police were to press charges, the show could continue, though any references to the events would have to be cut.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Legal matters aren't one of my specialties.

False story it appears. The only criminal charges the police could bring would be against Endemol in a corporate capacity. But, I don't think E. have broken the law...”

Breach of the peace? Affray? Drunk and disorderly? Threatening behaviour. You don't need anyone to press charges for those do you?

The regulators now have a situation where the programme caused people to summon the police which makes it difficult to say it didn't upset people.

The media will now have a field day with C4.

If the pressure wasn't enough to cancel it just went up surely.

The police might also be concerned that the HM involved were still there ticking away for the next round - they are now partly responsible with Endemol for the other HM's security.

And if Victor had hit Emma, Nadia or Stuart which seemed seconds and one provocation away do you think it wouldn't be a police and damages issue?

There were stories about the colouring in Smarties causing hyperactivity in children a while back, with Blue being the worst colour apparently.

I think Dan may have been refering to that.
