recharge navman battery
chappie
11-08-2010
My son has a navman 570, because he forgot to charge it regular the battery failed, I sent away for a new battery a few months ago & fitted it all was well,
He gave it to me as his new phone has sat nav, once more he hadn't charged it & now it won't charge up.
Is there any way I could charge it out of the navman to kickstart it into working ??

Unless the charging circuitry inside the Navman has failed there is no real advantage to using an external charger. Always assuming you could find one that you can connect the battery to in the first place. Unless it uses a fairly common battery type like a set of AAs or the like.

Does the Navman show any signs of life when you connect it to an external power source? I would have thought it would have a LED indicator at the very least to show it's got power. There is a possibility it is the external power supply you are using that is the problem.

But you may just have to be prepared to wait a while. It may take it a lot longer than normal to charge a completely dead battery, assuming the battery has any life left in it. So leave it on charge for a day and see if that makes any difference.

My TomTom has a duff battery that isn't holding a charge but it isn't a problem for me as I only use it in the car and it runs happily enough off the fag lighter lead. Surely the Navman can do the same?

Theres no reason to suffer dead batteries on gps. Just pop it open, and buy a replacement like that above.
