I'd just like to echo James' comments and say thankyou to everyone for their kind words here and through to the contact centres, personal email and the LU message service.
The kind of activity levels we've experienced today are unprecedented - although the full stats aren't available yet, I'd say it's been Digital Spy's busiest day ever.
On DS:BB, we had a week's worth of traffic to the news and LUs in the space of around 12 hours, including a massive amount in the 'dead' hours (2am - 6am) when things were kicking off.
Several news articles on DS:BB have been viewed more times than
any other article on Digital Spy since we started taking detailed recordings of individual artice stats in March (for those curious, the previous highest was an article on Orlando Bloom being James Bond). The lead article on Digital spy's main site has similarly been viewed (almost) more times than any other article has over the three-month period.
The forum record did indeed smash 4000 users - I think this was in fact during the 'dead' hours also. Session limiting has been in place for the most part of today else we'd easily have topped that.
We managed to hold this with no downtime at all to the main content servers and minimal downtime to the forums (any outages you would have recived were as you waited in the 'queue' to get in).
So a massive thanks also to the reporters and other staff for pullling together today but also a gigantic thanks to all of you for choosing us as your news/chat outlet of choice.
Neil
