for example, i do like these songs. I just think even without the voices on them, they'd still be pretty good.

I like having some instrumentals. I've got some from Beyoncé, Ciara, Rihanna, Danity Kane, Ne-Yo and Kelly Rowland. I find that I notice more sounds whether it be a few hand claps or differences in the chorus compared to the beginning of the song to the end etc.

I always remember many years ago when I bought a 12 inch vinyl version of an old Toni Braxton song. It was supposed to be played at the old 33 1/3 album speed, but without thinking, I put the instrumental version on at 45 speed and it sounded brilliant.

When i realised what i'd done, i played it at the normal speed and it didn't sound half as good

Would help if I could remember the bloody song though ..

Do you also remember playing cassette tapes and pushing the Pause button halfway down to play at double speed? When I was young I used to put "Now" cassette tapes on at double speed, made a lot of the songs sound better. I used to think I was turning them into garage tracks.

By the way, I just listened that Xtina instrumental and it's jarring.

Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles is the best instrumental I've ever heard. It really stands on its own and is just as powerful to listen to as the original, especially when you know the song very well to begin with. If you know the song, give it a listen, it's amazing.

Viva La Vida's pretty awesome as well, again because it stands on its own as a great piece of music. I'm not sure if that's widely available though, I came across it on some obscure site.

And totally different, but the Broken Heels instrumental is pretty great on its own as well.

Aha! That's it! I knew that Kele track sounded like something I'd heard before, just couldn't think what it was.

Halo and Bulletproof were 2 of my fave songs last year. As a song I preferred Halo but I think Bulletproof has the more exciting instrumental!
