The Wire series 2! I'd never watched it before, then my dad bought the whole lot, so I watched series 1 last year and loved it. I'm enjoying series 2 as well - I like the way it's changed where the main action is happening, but hasn't just forgotten about all the characters from series 1.
I'm midway through S4 and you really are in for a treat! It's probably the best TV show I have ever seen. It's so good, I feel I can say that before I've finished the whole 5 seasons.

A lot of people don't like S2 but I think it's really important in terms of character development. S3 has been my personal favourite so far.

The show is like an epic novel. I don't really want to finish it!

Who are your favourite characters?

True Blood Season 1. Did not realise that it was written by Alan Ball. I adored Six Feet Under. Michael C Hall was brilliant in that, as he is in Dexter.

But True Blood is looking good to me so far

Someone recommended The Shield to me last night. Said it's quite Wire-esque, is that right?

Just finished Game of Thrones season 1&2.

Fringe S4 next, then struggling to find something else, maybe Breaking Bad.

LOL - yeah, besides both involving law enforcement you probably couldn't get any farther apart. The Wire is slow and meticulous, each season building towards the a finale and then the payoff. The Shield is a lot more 'in your face' - the pace is always frenetic, and each season is usually a rollercoaster ride to the finish.

There are some great episodes there, and I'd add Galileo as well - fantastic.

I hate you. No, not really, but still, you will only ever get one chance to be gripped in, enthralled by BSG on your first time round, and you shouldnt take that for granted. I do wish that I could experience it again for the first time. So far Im upto my forth or fifth time round, season 4, and still loving it. But think that after Im done, might give it a few months rest. Dont want to rinse it, its does have to last a lifetime afterall.
I know what you mean - I'd be jealous of me too if I was in your shoes! Fantastic series - I'm slowly working my way through it. It's going to take me a while but I'm going to savour every minute of it.

Just finished Game of Thrones season 1&2.

I devoured Game of Thrones S1 in a couple of sittings last week - brilliant series, really, really enjoyed it.

Bit too much gratuitous female nudity and boobage on show, but I somehow got through it ok.

Series 2 DVD is now on my wishlist.....

Galileo is fantastic too, honestly I'd end up naming half the episodes I've seen so far

And this- this is sublime by any standard- if anyone needs a reason to consider checking this show out- well "Watch this"

I held off on Season 1 for ages as I thought the missus might be in to watching it. but after episode 1, I could see she wasn't that bothered so I watched it on my own. I'm not ashamed to admit I d/l Season 2 as I don't have Atalantic (V+ user), it was absolutely awesome.

The music really makes that scene, and I agree, it IS a great scene! The last bit of it is recapped in the first episode of season 3, but without the Dire Straits number - makes all the difference in the world!

Yeah, I'm working my way through this set again as well. I'd got the Region 1 set a few years ago - the UK one is better, for a starter the episodes are in order. The US set had them in the order in which they aired, whereas our's follows the production order.

I just went out and got season 1 of The Shield, is it any good?
You'll know by the end of the first episode. The entire edge of the show is summarized in that final scene of the first episode.

As far as I am aware no. I picked up The Wire and The Shield at the same time and I am still working my way through The Shield and loving every minute.

To me Southland seems to have taken inspiration from it and of course you can see the similarities between it and Sons of Anarchy as Kurt Sutter started his TV writing on The Shield

Just remember season 1 was made 10 years ago, so some bits felt a little old but then you realise that those bits were taken from The Shield by other shows in the first place.

Fantastic. I just finished watching all episodes about 8 weeks ago. I wanna watch them all again. The series is 7 years old and it still rocks.
