I'm just starting The Sopranos, so far I've only seen the pilot episode.
I also watched The Wire after Breaking Bad, thinking nothing could come between me & Walt , but it was really excellent. IMHO The Wire is one of the finest pieces of TV ever made. Look out for Omar Little!Quote:
Oh yes, loved The Shield too. A good recommendation.
Which is better The Wire or The Shield? Are they similar? |

So is The Wire as good as Breaking Bad? Or at least up to its level in terms of grittiness and tension?
Which is better The Wire or The Shield? Are they similar? The Shield is great, but again totally different to the Wire, it's more of a cop show. The anti-hero Vic Mackie, you either love or hate him - and you have to get past the fact he looks like an American cop version of Grant Mitchell

Got the Buffy complete boxset a few weeks ago. Currently nearly halfway through Season 2, and it's starting to pick up steam with a run of consistent and enjoyable episodes. Yesterday I watched the first episode of Buffy I ever saw, when it was being shown on BBC2, where everyone turns into what they dress as on Halloween.

I remember watching it for the first time on BBC Two on a Thursday night at 6:45 pm, this show is just so special to me, it was the first show I really connected with. |

Trying my hardest to get in to The Wire. After loving shows such as The Shield, Sopranos, Breaking Bad ect. It seem natural to go and watch this after all I have read about it.
So far though, I don't know, just is not grabbing me at all. Unlike Narcos which grabbed me in within 30 minutes and I had finish all 10 shows in 3 days. |

Currently watching Rebus (The Ken Stott Collection). I'm a bit of a fan of Ken and thoroughly enjoy seeing him in this type of role.

Which is better The Wire or The Shield? Are they similar? I would say that Breaking Bad is more like Fargo in terms of it being a bit less gritty and realistic than The Wire. It's a tad quirky, too, unlike The Wire. Breaking Bad, The Wire and Fargo are three of the very best shows I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Breaking Bad hooked me before the end of episode one. As did Fargo. |

It's more like a commentary on a city from the street level up to city hall. It's like a modern day Dickens novel showing good and bad and corruption at all levels. It is good, but not for the faint hearted I'd say and definitely not for the light hearted . Several people I know gave up on it.I'm currently watching Homeland which is great. Have seen seasons 1 & 2 and if you haven't seen it yet, I'd recommend it. Great acting and lots of cliff hanger endings. |

I got into the Wire about halfway through season 1 and I watched the whole series using subtitles because I couldn't understandf the Baltimore accent/dialect. I think it's very good, but not as entertaining or suspense filled as Breaking Bad or The Sopranos. If I hadn't bought the box set, I might have given up.

I've just started watching The Wire and it wasn't until ep 5 or 6 that it started to grab me more. I can see it's probably not going to have the entertainment factor BB had but it feels like it's going to be a good show.
I've started watching the Soprano's, I'm hoping it lives up to expectations
