how does she do ITT ? , surely that will rule her out of presenting it aswell ?

Well that's the latest in a string of disappointements where this yea';s show is concerned.

Isn't it about time we had some good news about the show?

All I need now is to read that Ronnie Corbett will be reprising his dismal 'stand-in' role from last year and I'll lose faith altogether...

Scaremongering!!

I had that operation on both eyes in February.... They did each eye a week apart and three days after the second one i was driving a huge car around Northern France with no problem!

Its basically the same operation that they give cataract sufferers - there is tiny incision and they insert the contact lenses INSIDE the eye.

The operation lasts all of 20 minutes, and you can see perfectly immediately afterwards - although they do give you a patch to cover up the eye for the first 12 hours or so.

I srtongly recommend it to anyone who has a horrendous prescription (I was -10 in my right eye and -8.75 in the left) - and can't have laser treatment!

It says near the bottom that she has told bosses she won't be presenting the results show as she wants to spend that time with her husband and children, so nothing to do with her op.
That's how i read it anyway.

So this leaves the question, who is going to present the results with Tess?

Week 1 - they could get Chris Hollins to do it as he will likely be there as reigning champion and probably dancing - as the tradition is that the reigining champion returns for the champion dance

They could also ask Ian or Darren to alternate with each other

Shame Brian Fortuna walked; he would have been a great choice! May be Karen Hardy will finally get a job worthy of her skills. She has great presentation skills, dance experience, ticks all the boxes..... Come on BBC use some common sense for once. Let's just hope they don't panic and grab any old person from the BBC canteen.

Exactly!
It is the tabloid press doing a usual sensational story which if you read it carefully does not say she isnt doing the sunday night show because of the eye problem.

She is lucky to be able to afford to have it all done privately. I will need a cataract op eventually but they are only done when the cataract is at the right stage, ie when you are almost bllind. My other eye has only peripheral vision for a complicated reason so at one stage I will be virtually blind for a while. After that I will at least have one eye with 20/20 vision.

Doesn't Claudia do ad libbing much of the time anyway on ITT...?? Id say that there isn't much autocuing that goes on anyway..

The beeb obviously weren't keen on giving Karen a job she's an expert on so I doubt very much they'd give her a presenters job tbh...

Besides, there'll be too many in-house 'presenters' after the job and one of them is sure to get it.

Or just get Ian to do it all the time

Yeah, that's true - and when she is reading the autocue she tends to be distracted by whichever dancers are on the show that day (I'm thinking specifically of the last show last year, but she does go off on tangents a lot anyway!)

Ian would be brilliant. (although could be a little camp!)

I just don't see Darren being good. On the two occasions Ive seen him and Lilia in cabaret, his skills with a mic presenting were absolutely abissmal. It made me feel totally uncomfortable with his umming and errring.. (and also walking round in circles - made me feel dizzy for him).

A little bit of camp is never a bad thing

I reckon Chris will do the first week, Ian could do week two - and then the ousted pro returns the following week to do the results

Now that would be a good plan..

Why isn't Tess hosting the results show?

I think Tess is going to host it with someone else..
Obviously the PTB at the Beeb don't think Tess is capable of doing it on her own...

Oh so Bruce isn't doing the results show?

Sorry, bit out the loop.

Thank god we aren't losing Tess. I was worried there for a sec! I know she gets a lot of stiick but I quite like her

I'd rather lose just Bruce than just Tess... but I'm afraid I'd much rather they both went. Trouble is I don't much like any of the alternatives people come up with either (except Claudia, obviously!), so it might be better the devil you know...

I thought Tess was good the week Brucie was ill (apart from the awful Ronnie Corbett bits) because, unlike Brucie, she was presenting as a "presenter" and not as a "performer" and so it was about the contestants rather than being about her. I think she'll be fine as long as she isn't saddled with a substitute Bruce.

That's a good plan - although what about when it comes to people like Ola and Aliona who didn't do much talking (none at all in Ola's case) on the pro tour? I think they're both very capable of doing the results show presenting, but part of me wonders if they'd want to. Although i suppose if they didn't there's always Ian to step in.

Whereas I simply LOVE the idea of Ian presenting the Sunday results show, I can't quite see it sadly. Only because I don't think the Beeb value him particularly, especially in light of him being sidelined, not because I don't think he'd be good. Yes he plays up the camp sometimes, but not always. I've seen him several times in cabaret shows with Camilla and he's an absolute natural with the mic. He's good at working the audience, very confident and chatty and has lots of funny little stories to relate. Quite witty at ad-libbing occasionally too! I was surprised the first time at how entertaining a character he is.

However, I think there are a few other contenders ahead of him, some of them ex-contestants like Chris, Aled Jones, or even Zoe Ball, and they are all existing employees of the BBC (I think) with presenting experience.

I really like Claudia though, pity she's not doing it.

Actually, Ian and Tess would look good together too. Hmmm...

But as Ian is in the Dance Troupe, they will be performing during the Results Show, so he wouldn't be able to do any presenting as well, sadly.

Bring back Aled !!!!! He was so funny on strictly, its a shame many people don't remember him as he and Lilia had some classic moments !

Doesn't stop him at cabarets, although he's always terribly out of breath trying to talk to the audience! Maybe they pre-record the pro routines.

This is just fantasy anyway methinks. I fear in reality we may be destined for more Graham Norton. Although they keep dredging up all sorts of strange choices as presenters for things like The One Show, so who knows!
