Mine would have to include the following useful apps.

3g watchdog - keep track of 3g useage and be warned if near the limit

Your Orange - keep an eye on account balances, remaining mins/texts/etc, manage magic numbers etc.

Orange wednesdays - find your local cinema using the GPS, get driving directions, film times, watch film trailers and read film reviews. Available on the Android Market for anyone on any network!

XDA Developers - basically a free version of the tapatalk app which is locked to the XDA developers forums

Google voice search - an app for 2.1, integrated into 2.2.

Shazam Encore - add free, unlimited tagging.

Mechanics Touch - Lemmings!

Skype

Google Maps/Sat Nav

Power Control plus - for personalised buttons

BBC iPlayer

Advanced Task Killer

Shazam

Movies

Music Junk - Free p2p mp3 downloading

Your Orange

Record It - I prefer to sky's own remote record app

Shh! Auto - Great for setting exact times when you want your phone on silent

SMS Popup - Works well with SMS Reader

Call Confirm - Stops you accidently dialling, which I did all the time when I first had my Desire.
