I thought it would be good to have a classic version of the who do you prefer threads.

Please embolden the one you prefer

The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones
The Kinks vs The Hollies
The Who vs Led Zeppelin
T Rex vs Free
Paul McCartney & Wings vs 10CC
Dire Straits vs Chris Rhea

Genesis vs Pink Floyd
Yes vs the Moody Blues
The Jam vs Elvis Costello
George Harrison vs John Lennon
Bob Dylan vs Donovan
Tina Turner vs Cher
Badfinger vs Bread
Kansas vs Boston
Cliff Richard vs Paul McCartney
Peter Gabriel vs Paul Simon

I'd go with:

The Jam vs Elvis Costello
George Harrison vs John Lennon
Bob Dylan vs Donovan
Tina Turner vs Cher

The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones (very marginal, I love both bands)
The Kinks vs The Hollies (not quite so marginal, although I quite like the Hollies)
The Who vs Led Zeppelin (again very marginal, both great bands)
T Rex vs Free
Paul McCartney & Wings vs 10CC
Dire Straits vs Chris Rhea
Roxy Music vs Simple Minds
Genesis vs Pink Floyd (can't stand Genesis)
Yes vs the Moody Blues
The Jam vs Elvis Costello (can't stand Paul Weller)
George Harrison vs John Lennon (don't really like these two or Paul or Ringo solo, the Beatles were a million times more than the sum of their parts)
Bob Dylan vs Donovan (although I rather like Donovan and think it's unfair to call him a Dylan copyist, he may have started as one, but he soon developed his own unique style)
Tina Turner vs Cher (undecided - I like Tina with Ike and Cher with Sonny, but can't stand either solo)
Badfinger vs Bread
Kansas vs Boston (Kansas? Never heard of them)
Cliff Richard vs Paul McCartney (I'm not a huge Cliff fan, but I think he's nowhere near as awful as many suggest)
Peter Gabriel vs Paul Simon (although I definitely prefer Paul Simon with Art Garfunkel to solo Paul Simon, he certainly gets my vote over Peter Gabriel, who like Genesis, is not remotely my cup of tea)

Well, men have traditionally made better music than women. Fact. However, women do seem to dominate today's mainstream music, which is probably why today's mainstream music is so bl00dy awful.

Not that I'm sexist or anything.

Simple Minds did one of my favourite songs of all time (even though it was released about ten years before I was born?)

DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME!

My post was only supposed to be a wind-up, I wish I never submitted it now!

1. I am not sexist.
2. I like most of the acts you mention above (adore Ella and Etta James).
3. You probably have a point about more female artists being included in this poll.
4. Humble pie currently being consumed!

Women are more likely to have absolute pitch perception than mantypes.

Anyway music appreciation is subjective (except in the mind of a fool.)

That may be, but, according to Cosmopolitan, men who play guitar are better in bed. Probably why everyone says men are usually better musicians then.

Mind you, in regards to women having pitch perfect vocals, just look at the man from Popstar to Operastar. You know, the one who looks like Mr Bean but with long, luscious, curly locks? He's a bloody amazing singer.

Me and my girlfriend read that issue too.

I think there is scope for more females but most of the classic bands that this is focused on are men.
