Lady Gaga releasing 2 albums in 2011
Quote:
During an interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning Lady GaGa revealed some surprising news. The chart monster let it slip that despite previously stating that she had completed her new album she has in fact returned to the studio and is considering releasing 2 records in 2011. Does anyone feel she could become more overexposed and make people tired if hearing her music if she does this?
GaGa noted that her creative vigor was inspired by the overturning of California’s Proposition 8 last week. Check out what she had to say below: “I felt like it was a revolution, like a gunshot went off, like it set us all into rotation,” Gaga said. “It was so exciting when it happened because it, for me, was a moment that indicated that it could happen in every state now…I was so happy and I went into the studio and kept writing [new music].” She continued on to talk about how the new music would affect her forthcoming third album, that she has said in past interviews was already complete. “I know I told everybody my album was done, which is it kinda is done, but I can’t stop writing music. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I might have to put out two records.” |

I love her music but I think I'd be one of those people who would get really annoyed with all her over-exposure.

I watched the interview this morning on Ryan Seacrest's Youtube channel, and it's a long, long way from definite. She wasn't announcing it, just saying that she writes so much and so often that she'd considered it.

I don't think she was being serious when she said that. Just making the point that she's written so much material that she could have two albums.
But that aside, I'd rather she do what Robyn is doing and releasing the album in parts over the year compared to a huge double disc album. It would benefit her singles chart performance too if it was in parts. Her problem is that she sells so many albums that by the time she's on her 3rd - let alone 4th - single practically everyone already owns the material and it doesn't chart as well as it could. If single 3 and 4 came from a new album, then they would perform as well as the first 2. |

I don't see the problem personally. As a big gaga fan (and I guess i can only talk for the big big fans)...the more Gaga music the better. However, if this was to happen i'd rather it be 'the fame' style. I.e. album in Feb/March .. then the re-release with another disc in Nov/Dec 2011.
And yeah, she hasn't confirmed it either. Just an idea. |

I don't get the "overexposure" thing.
If I want to watch someone I'll seek them out, if I don't then I won't. There is so much choice and so many ways to listen to music now I don't understand how "overexposure" can be a genuine problem anymore? Ok if there was only 4 channels and 2 radio stations, but we have hundreds of tv channels, even more Radio Stations, online Radio, Youtube etc etc etc I love Gaga and want as much music from her as possible. |

I agree with the overexposure thing, I think people get too caught up in the normal way of going about things with releasing an album one year, disappearing the next, reappearing with a new album the year after that etc. If she has the material, she may as well release it. If it's good enough, people will love it regardless.
Unlike with other popstars, she's a singer/songwriter and they're a different breed of artist. They constantly write, so can generate new material far quicker than a pop star who is merely handed songs, or picks through sent in demos or is coaxed through the co-writing process. Obviously this is within reason, I don't think she should release an album more frequently than one per year simply because it would be rushed through and there would be absolutely no gap inbetween to let things settle, recharge and launch again...it would just be constant releases, which is just a silly thing to do. I think she is trying to combat over-exposure to a degree though. If the rumours are to be believed, she's not making any tv appearances or performances until next year. She knows that doing a gigantic VMA performance half way through her 'break' from the spotlight would be counter-productive and she may as well not have bothered at all considering the amount of coverage it would get. |

I thought it was going to be a double album. I assumed a two disc album.

She really needs to disappear for a while otherwise it's really going to backfire on her. Even Madonna knows to lie low between albums.
I love her to bits but she needs a break

The question is does she start melting when she stops receiving all this publicity!
