The Dangers of Drug Addiction
Harlequin
17-06-2004
Watching BB ATM, it seems to me that the atmosphere in the house yesterday was already taut long before E&M entered. The primary source of stress appears to have been Nadia, suffering out from nicotine withdrawal and subsequently spreading irritation among other HMs (most noticably Shell). Considering that BB (or Davina, at least) was expecting violence even before the emergence of this drug-induced volatility, why the hell did they allow their plans to continue without modification? At the very least they could have found an excuse to provide nicotine, if only to limit the predicted later damage.

Shell was stressed because she was suffering from withdrawal from cigarettes and Jason found it funny.

Thats why she went to the beauty room and started bashing pillows and screaming.

Well I do not feel sorry for Nadia. she should have paced herself and not smoked like a trooper. She gets no sympathy from me.

Jason has been deprived of exercise which can also be an adiction - enorphines are Highly addictive and I imagine given their nature withdrawal is probably similar to heroin withdrawal

As he just said, as Big Brother is giving the smokers some fags to help them through this, are they going to give him a running machine.

He has a point.

(As I typed this, he just said he has asked BB for a treadmill.)

Sympathy isn't required. My point is that BB went ahead with a plan which they knew would be explosive in any circumstances while HMs were feeling extremely stressed and aggressive. Their mental state may well have been self-induced but they had no idea what was going to be sprung on them that evening. The provision of nicotine (perhaps included with the buffet prize) could have significantly reduced last night's tensions.
