Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna

"Louise she's alright, she's just near; she's delicate and seems like veneer..."

Years later found out it was "seems like the mirror..."

Bob's quite a good lyricist but my version's better.

Not being aware of the song title at the time, the first two lines of the chorus in Basement Jaxx's "Good Luck" used to sound like some foreign language to me! It wasn't until I saw a forum post asking for the name of a song, quoting those lyrics, that I realised "Oh, that's what she's singing!".

It still could be veneer. Dylan fans have long argued over this and some lyric sites quote the line as
she's delicate and seems like veneer/the mirror

I have a good few from when I was younger!

Constant Craving by KD Lang I thought was 'God Can't Stand Gravy.'

You're The One That I Want John Travolta/Olivia Newton John

Meditate in my direction was to me 'Better take my erection.'

The Who's My Generation.

Talking bout my generation was 'Talking bout my jittery shoes.'

And finally Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die

You gotta give the other fella hell was 'You gotta gimme Alabama ham.'

I had many hearing tests and I am fine! Just crazy I think!

For ages in "Smile" I always thought Lily Allen was saying:

"You say that you want me back
And I tell you it don't mean dat
It don't mean dat"

It took me ages to realise it was actually
"It don't mean jack"

This thread's been going a while so I may have already posted this one, but I heard the song and it reminded me that I always hear this wrong:

Shaggy, It Wasn't Me -

Misheard... "If she say you're not, convince her say you're gay"

Real... "If she say a night, convince her say a day"

The Corrs - Only When I Sleep

I hear;
"...moving from within, and clutches at my breast"

It is "breath" apparently

I prefer my version...fits the tone of the song better
