i think it'll be that the celebs will just do an ensemble routine alone, having been taught by some guest choreographers. i can't see how it'd work for them to dance with their partners on the night they meet them, and it's not cost-effective (and creates issues with the live audience being available) to have it recorded a couple of days after the initial meetings are filmed.

If there is indeed going to be a group dance - which will be car crash television anyway - think the pros would start and do a bit, then all disperse when the celebs would probably come on and boogy (badly), then disperse to side of stage, then the pros would come back again and show them how its done then the celebs could go to a pre prescribed place and pose with a pro ... and hey bingo, each pro at the same time would know which celebs were on the show and how the dance ended was which celeb they have... (until someone wasnt int he right place and a pro either had 2 celebs or no celeb!)... hilarious anyway! Well thats what will happen in SV world.

I think it'll be interesting if they do do a group routine before the pros get their hands on them, as it'll serve somewhat as a definitive baseline, and we'll be able to see how the pros improve them.

Thank you very much, Monkie and Dilly, for links to Jodie's breast and Lilia's dance machine reaction . Had forgotten exactly how silly and LOLish both those clips were, but just as funny after a long break!

And you have no IDEA how much I needed a laugh today ... but that's another story.

Roll on the launch show, the main prog. and lots of stupidity on ITT. Can't wait.

Yes, I agree with this, especially the BIB, but then I would say that

I agree with this too, I can't see Brendan or James in a jumper knitted by their nan

I quite like your thought of it being like blind date, where the moving wall reveals who everyone is paired with

Ooh, this is getting better by the minute. Who needs the BBC when the collected Brainz R Us on this forum can do it so much better?

Only problem with your idea Daisy is that Anton would know in advance who his partner was - 'cos his bit of the wall would have a funny-shaped hole in it... (cue yet another Ann Widdicombe joke here )

Strictly Come Dancing stars to be revealed on air

Bruce Forsyth is thought to be stepping down from the results show
Contestants on this year's Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed in a launch show filmed in front of an audience at BBC Television Centre.

They will also be introduced to their dance partners in the one-hour show, to be aired on 11 September - three weeks before the start of the contest.

It is thought stars will be paid on a per-show basis this year, rather than being given a flat fee for the series.

And it is understood Bruce Forsyth will no longer present the results show.

The 82-year-old - who missed an episode of Strictly last year after catching influenza - has already revealed that will be taking a pay cut for the 2010 series.

Ola Jordan and Chris Hollins won last year's series
In the newly-announced launch show, dancers and contestants will be filmed arriving on a red carpet and performing a group dance together.

The programme will be shot on 8 September for broadcast three days later.

First meetings between dancers and celebrities in previous series were filmed in dance studios or workplaces and shown in video inserts during the opening episode.

The BBC's Mark Linsey called the "red carpet event" the ideal way to launch "a series that features more excitement and glamour than ever before".

BBC sports presenter Chris Hollins won last year's contest, beating Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle.

The show was criticised for failing to attract A-list names but nevertheless attracted an average audience of 9.16 million per show - second only to the previous year's average of 9.54 million.

That series was won by actor Tom Chambers and also featured contestants including John Sergeant and Christine Bleakley.

It has been rumoured that former MP Ann Widdecombe and actress Felicity Kendall will be among this year's contestants”

They could replace him with almost anyone and I'd be happy - I'd much prefer he stepped down from the show altogether rather than getting a ridiculous salary for 3 hours of bad jokes and mispronouncing people's names....

Then it's high time he took a good look at himself and the effect his cheap 'jokes' have on the targets of his jibes.

Was calling a vulnerable Jessie Wallace jelly part of the joke - and what about the tasteless reference to Jo Wood about losing stone?

He didn't see the joke when it was alleged (wrongly) that Nicole Cutler called him doddery.

We didn't hear the last of it.

i think we need to ask the celebs themselfs if they were ever offended by bruices so called jokes on them?

He called Brendan Brenda at one point aswell, and as funny as it was it definitely wasn't intended. He is much funnier when he's not trying to be.

They try to remain professional and smile through gritted teeth - but Bruce doesn't joke with them, he laughs at them; and their faces tell the story.

I repeat my earlier observation - he didn't find it funny when the joke was on him.

The contestants on SCD can hardly answer back when Bruce makes one of his derogatory comments. If that is Bruce being himself then it is perhaps another reason why he should hang up those worn out dancing shoes.

A slip of the tongue can happen to anyone and is just one of those things.

But a pre-planned "joke" (it's well known that Bruce has everything written on the autocue for him) such as that comment about Jo Wood "losing a stone" just before she went on to the dance floor - was in bad taste. Whether or not the celebs are hurt by this sort of thing isn't really for us to say - Jo had little choice at the time but to ignore it and concentrate on the dance - but I don't think it's appropriate for Bruce or anyone else to make that sort of "joke".

Not suggesting this as a reason for him to retire, just differentiating between a mistake and a pre-planned comment. Bruce's "jokes" may just be part of him but he should at least understand not to refer to something like a recent divorce, surely?

Oh so he's been aiming the same joke at Ola for 3 years then, despite managing to pronounce her name correctly at least sometimes in the first series she did?

Mispronouncing someone's name wrongly repeatedly isn't funny, it;s just pure laziness when others get it right!

I wanted to say that you guys in the UK are really lucky to have such a top notch show as SCD. DWTS isn't as warm and in my opinion that top-notch always getting D-List stars and Reality Stars and in NZ our DWTS is finished because of the economic climate. I just watched Season 7 the whole way through and I actually had great laughs and a great time watching. Bruce Forsyth at times does make bad comments (not him, the cue-reader) and to be honest, thats his role...I didn't mind him at all mostly, he's a great host and I actually don't understand the dislike with him or Tess. How much more do you want! They're only damned human and it is LIVE!!!!!! Everyone here moaning about every change, every cut, every everything. Let the show evolve. I'm so sorry because I know I sound a bit angry (I'm not really) but come on. SCD is class and a joy to watch and I don't mind if it evolves! I'm excited for the new season, and actually sad that Brucie won't be hosting the Sunday Results Show, he does bring alot to the show!

Now....sorry...I'm excited with the celeb rumours as well.

Michelle Williams might be good to see, though an American on SCD never bodes well for me...
Felicity Kendal....If this is true....I will be ecstatic, what fun! I hope she does well
Anne Widdecombe, Patsy Kensit seem to be great additions as well as Gavin Henson and Tina O'Brien. I can't wait for September 11th. Or 8th if there are leaks considering it is filmed beforehand!

As in you can't defend Bruce on that? It is indefensible not to learn someone's name properly when you've known them for 4 years. Bruce is not the only culprit, but after such a long time in the business I would've thought he'd have known better. It's only common courtesy!
