HTC Froyo update Question
Hi all
I recently bought the HTC Desire off a friend who had the phone as an upgrade but didn't like it (he likes ''simple'' phones for calls and texts). He got the phone on a vodaphone contract and my contract is with 3. I placed my sim into the phone and i'm really happy with it, has worked pretty much perfectly. I am wondering, as this phone was sourced from a different network, will I get the Froyo update? I have been manually checking the available system updates but i just get the message ''your phone is up to date-there are no updates available for your phone''. I am aware that unlocked Desire's and some Desire's on 3 and Vodafone Network have received this update. As I have sourced my phone in a slightly unusual way do I need to do something extra to get my hands on this update? Any advice is very much appreciated.

What software version is on the phone?
(settings > about > software information), or something like that. |

If it's a Vodafone branded phone (ie. you see a Vodafone splash screen when you turn it on, etc.) then you will probably have to wait for the Vodafone Froyo update, which is actually due in the next few days. You should get it soon enough.

Thanks for your replies. It is software 2.1 update 1. There is no Vodafone branding on phone anywhere that I can see. As my 3 sim was accepted I was wondering if this could be an unlocked phone?

Should start with "1." - for example 1.21.405.2 Vodafone routinely keep their contract phones unlocked. |

Vodafone smartphones tend to be SIM-unlocked anyway, so that unfortunately is not an indicator of anything. I don't know exactly what branding the Vodafone Desire should have - given the "upgrade" palaver, it might not currently have any. I would give it a few more days - the Vodafone Froyo update should be out before the end of next week - and if still nothing, post back on here and we'll see if there are any other options.
