im in the market for a new screen my old 28 inch toshiba which i bought 2nd hand is now starting to die. i can see thin black horizontal lines most of the time.
so ive narrowed the choice down to a 32 leowe mimo for the crt which is a £1000, but ive also been looking at the lg plasma at richers which was just under £2000.
i really like the idea of the thin plasma screen and the space saved. but is the picture quality on the cheap plasma be worse than the crt screen

The thing to look at is the contrast ratio.

This is basically how black the black is. On a crt it's very high maybe 10,000:1, on a good plasma it's 4000:1

Ceap plasmas or LCDs can be much lower.

But if you're looking in richer sounds you can make sure it's set up properly and have a look.
