Can anyone recommend me a digital camera?

I am hoping there are some (photo) gadget enthusiasts/techies amongst you and i would like some recommendations in purchasing a digital camera. I know some of you will own rather nifty and cool digital cameras so i'm hoping you can give me your recommendations.

Basically i'm a newbie because i've never owned a digital camera before, never had the need to but realised i do need a separate camera for taking photos and video (of family and friends/nights out/concerts/shows, etc).

Here are my following requirements:

1. Price - nothing more than £150
2. Records video along with taking photos
3. Photos/video can be downloaded to my pc
4. Easy to use
5. Is pocketable i.e. can fit in a jeans pocket
6. Is slim and comfortable to hold in hand i.e. not too heavy or bulky
7. Good camera sensor - don't mind if it's 5/812mp as long as pictures/video are crisp and clear
8. Nothing cheap or plastic looking or feeling. Won't break easily! Lol.

I think that's it, hopefully i haven't missed anything out. I look forward to hearing your recommendations or what digital camera's you own personally. Thanks for reading.

Some canons are ok
But there are so many, that it comes down to personal preference on a basis of whats important to you.

That tool will show you how each performs under different lighting conditions.

I've just got the Samsung ES60 for £69 in Argos (on sale, was £99) It's a 12 mp. If all you want it for is family shots, nights out etc, you can't go wrong with this. Easy to connect to your pc and it also has a rechargeable battery. I know nothing about cameras but I really love my ES60.

I'm dubious about samsung, they make the appearance of a good product, but their expertise in camera technology is lacking.

Good reviews on the Fuji FinePix F80 EXR. Amazon has it for £159 (right column of the link). We have 4 Fujis in the family and they all have been super.

This is my 2nd Samsung ( I unfortunately dropped and smashed my 1st) and for what the OP needs they are great. All my pics have turned out fine. I know it's not a top of the range camera but for general snaps, what more do you need?

canon are always good, although it came up with a "black viewfinder of death" Free repair, but I never got round to it.

i bought a tiny hatachi 8MP from Argos for about £60, and that was good.

i have a panasonic lumix now, (bit dearer, and bigger format) and its brilliant. I love HD video, and all the other features that come with aying a bit more. Well worth the extra I think.
