PVR9200T restarting at 18.45

I acquired an old PVR-9200T as a replacement for an elderly Thomson unit.

One of the first things I did was let it ugrade to the latest firmware.

It's got an annoying issue in that at 18:45 every evening the box will re-boot! It's dead on the dot of 18:45 too, going by the display.

It doesn't come up with the loader thing, it simply switches off the output to the telly, comes up with "STING" on the front panel display then re-enables the TV output.

Does the Hummy do something at 18:45 every day, eg scan for an update? I can't find anything in the settings...

Is there a hidden "Engineering menu" on these boxes?

Apart from this (And the low audio output) the box is perfect.

Someone's got a similar problem with a 9300, see here. Do you have Emmerdale set to record?

There is a hidden menu but it doesn't have anything to do with timings. As for the low audio, have you tried turning the volume up from its default 50% setting?

Les what does the 9200 hidden menu do?

I'm not sure what STING means but the only thing I can think of is to check what the Auto Update, Auto On and Auto Off are set to.

STING is the front panel message put up by the older (version a4.07) loader when it's booting up (instead of DUOVISIO)..

STING Merely means starting

It allows you to reset the password if you've forgotten the one you set. It also allows you to transfer software directly from one machine to another.

How do you get into it?

In the interests of people who have got their machines password protected I'm not going to say, contact Humax.

It's alright, Les, I've found it.

The Humax doesn't do anything special at 18:45 and this is not a common problem. Could something be generating electrical interference at 18:45 that is causing the reboot?

In my post #2 I asked if he had Emmerdale set to record, 18:45 would be the time Hummy went to active standby if it was in standby to start with.

I took the use of the word re-boot to mean the box was already active and then re-booted but I can see that your explanation is probably more plausible.

Just a shot in the dark really Martin to try and pinpoint an event that might be causing the re-boot. For all we know something may happen in the software 15 minutes before an AR scheduled recording even if the Hummy is on.

Hi

Watched the box tonight, it was in standby and dead on the dot of 18.45 the box started up, did the 'sting' message then switched off again! It does similar if it's left on, it'll simply restart and return to where it was.

No, Emmerdale is not set to record. However, Robot Wars is set to record on Dave Ja vu at 7pm every night. So...the theory that 'something' happens 15 minutes before a recording is consistent.

On the subject of auto update, I believe it is 'on' although I don't recall seeing an option to set the time the auto update runs. Does anyone know where this option is?

Ah.

What's the difference between "active standby" and "standby"?

That certainly seems a plausible explaination but it's bl00dy annoying as it causes the telly to change channels!

Just received a reply from Humax, they advise re-setting the box.

Would this clear any problem caused by the machine going into active standby mode? (I assume not.)

Is there any way of nobbling a SCART lead to prevent the TV from doing the auto SCART switching thing?

(There's no option on the telly to turn this feature off)

Whenever a recording is due to start the box turns itself on 15 mins before scheduled time getting ready for the start of the programme just incase it starts early.

Menu<->Instalation<->Software Upgrade<->Regular Auto Update.

I'm intrigued about this hidden menu. Must be a sequence of button presses from a particular menu screen?
