Potential Scheduling Change For Dancing On Ice

According to this story the next series of The X Factor will run from November 2011 to March 2012 due to Simon's involvement with X Factor USA.

If this story is true this could mean DOI is also moved & will be aired in the lead up to Christmas next year. As X Factor is now on both Saturday & Sunday nights they can't really be shown at the same time.

Would this change be damaging for DOI as it would then be on the same time as Strictly & there could be a direct clash now that Strictly has moved back to a Sunday night results show?

I would prefer that DOI stayed in the same post Christmas Slot but unfortunately it's probably inevitable that it will play second fiddle to X factor as far as ITV is concerned.

Do we know that there is going to be another series of dancing on ice though? it was announced last year that it had been renewed for 2010 and 2011, so technically when it starts in january it could well be the last series, you'd think they would have announced another renewal by now. i hope it does continue after this coming series, don't know what i'd do without my dancing on ice fix!!! although if that report is true it's going to be quite a gap between this series and the next as like you said if x factor is on saturday and sunday there wont be time for dancing on ice to be on aswell.

It was reported back in 2008 that Chris and Jayne had signed a three-year deal for DOI 2009, 2010 and 2011. Much as I'd love DOI to continue, there's never been any indication that it'll last beyond the 2011 series, so it's entirely possible it may be cancelled in favour of X Factor

I would be surprised if ITV were to axe it at the moment as although the figures were down a bit this year they were still more than respectable. The only reason for them to axe it would be if Jayne & Chris decided to call it a day.

Thinking about it another alternative would be for Britain's Got Talent to be moved to autumn and DOI to be aired in the Spring thus avoiding a DOI/Strictly clash.

A DOI and SCD clash would not be good! Damn X-Factor, i've had enough of it causing problems for Strictly but now possibly DOI aswell?? I hate it, just axe X-Factor then there's not a problem

Sounds like a good idea. Or get rid of the X-Factor!
