The charger part of my Navman F20 unit has broken which means I can no longer charge it even though the actual unit works perfectly. I took it to a repair shop today and the guy said he couldn't do anything but did recommend a docking system.

All I can find is a hands-free system which looks like this;

Now by the looks of it the power lead plugs into the back of this box and then the sat nav unit is powered by docking it on top. Is that correct? If so it's the solution to all my problems.

As far as I can find out the Navman F20 uses the mini USB socket on the side of the device for charging does it not? So is that broken or is it the external power adapter that is broken?

If it is the external power adapter that is broken I can't see how buying a docking cradle is going to make a blind bit of difference.

It's the bit on the side of the sat nav which has broken:

There is a manual for the Navman B2+ module which I think is the device in that image you linked to. Unfortunately it says three eighths of sweet FA about whether it will power the Navman. In fact it doesn't even mention anything about it needing it's own power supply or the hands free Bluetooth capability of the thing. Trying to find the B2 model just gets me a load of 404 Page Not found errors (the B2 just does hands free no Traffic module)

So you're on yer own

Aha, just found another manual which shows the hands-free unit with a power socket on the back - pages 5 and 6:

So it looks as though the charger plugs into this handsfree box which in turn powers the docked Navman.
