The Rachel/Ragan Confrontation
NightSwimmer
20-08-2010
I know this is old news now, but I've just watched it and had a few questions to those who watched it live.

Was what we saw a fair representation of what happened?

What else did we miss?

How did the other HM react after Rachel left? Did they think Ragan was in the right or in the wrong? Did they say anything to him?

Did Ragan say anything to them about not standing up to Rachel, or about being hypocritical in their actions? Or did others have a go at Rachel too?

How did the US forums react to the confrontation. Was Ragan seen as a hero or villain?

Argument-wise Ragan completely owned Rachel. But in a way that wasn't very nice and revealed Ragan to be a bitter old queen. So, personally I see Ragan as the villain.

What did Rachel say to provoke such a strong reaction from him?

Rachel came out defeated but left with more class I felt ala BB8 Jen (slightly).

Sorry I know that didn't answer your question at all.

Rachel deliberately provoked that whole argument. He was outside doing his best to avoid her, when she approached him with a tray of cookies. This, despite knowing Ragan was a Have-Not and couldn't eat them.

To cut a long story short, Rachel deserved everything she got that day.

Relatively, quite alot of the fight was cut, including some of Ragan's best lines, as the fight lasted for about 10 minutes.

Enzo was an idiot at first and tried to defend her, Lane put him in his place very quickly by talking about how Rachel had gone out there looking for that fight. The rest of the house went to comfort Ragan after it happened saying he did nothing wrong.

Ragan didn't say anything, neither did the rest of the house to her face.

Ragan was seen as the hero.

I did look there first. I even tried searching for it elsewhere, but with no luck.

Rachel clearly provoked that abuse and she made a bad mistake, IMO. If she'd gone in and been nice to everyone and had a 'no hard feelings' kind of attitude, it might have won her some respect and helped Brendon in the game.

I feel sorry for Brenchel. I think they went from nice to nasty because of the pressure of having to fight for themselves unaided from the very first week but none of the others can see that, including Ragan, who seems to spend so much of his time analysing what is happening.

I'd have found his pwning of Rachel pretty funny, if I hadn't been so embarrassed for her.

They only had themselves to blame for this though. They in effect issolated themselves and thought that they could take the rest on with just the two of them. I don't know if they thought this because Geoff/Jordan did so well last year or what, but they really started off on the wrong foot.

They should have formed an alliance around the pair of them so that they were protected from the start, but they only made deals on a week by week basis. Even then the deals they made were useless as they (especially Brendon) were as good at making deals as Kathy was. Instead of stating clearly what the terms of the deal were and getting a firm commitment to that deal, they would make vague suggestions and get general responses which could easily be gotten out of.

Even though they screwed up at the start, they had the perfect oppertunity to form an alliance when Hayden and Kristen were exposed as a couple. They could have got together with Hayden and Kristen and made a 'couples' deal. Pointing out how hard it is to be seen as a couple in the house as it makes you a huge target, and the only way they could survive as couples in the house was by teaming up. They would only need one other person at that point in time and they would have been unstoppable, but no, they let emotions/pride get the better of them.

I do agree with this. And it didnt help how much they alienated themselves early on. Rachel was hated by the other women as early as the first eviction night - Annie had nothing nice to say about her, and Britney were and Monet were already targetting her.

I liked Rachel, but whilst the others did all jump on the bandwagon against her and her man, she did absolutely nothing to help it.

"With your face like a parrot from hell"

Quality line that.

Man, bitchy gays are far more brutal (and funny) than bitchy birds.

Britney was much more funny imo. That was behind Rachel's back though and I doubt she would have made comments like the 'STD's go airbourne when she wears a skirt' to her face .

Sorry I'm late returning to this thread.

I think that's a bit unfair. IIRC, even though Hayden put them both on the block in the first week, as soon as the week was over they were telling Hayden they had no hard feelings and were trying to form an alliance with him but he wasn't having any of it.They were friendly enough to everyone but nobody apart from Andrew wanted anything to do with them.

I pretty much agree with the rest of your comment, though.
