ever done it ? ever been behind someone who's doing it ?

i've just been watching the paramore set from radio 1's one big weekend that i recorded last night and i saw loads of people sitting on people's shoulders.

it just seems an unbelievably selfish thing to do ..

Never been to a festival or anything - not my thing at all - but it really annoys me when I see it on TV so I can only imagine how annoying it is for the people behind. I think most of them only do it so they can get on telly.

First off, I love paramore.

Back to your post:

I'm 4'10, but I'm pretty sure I'd never do that. I get annoyed when people hold banners up. It is selfish. I feel for the people behind them, they clearly can't see a thing. if these people wanted to see they should move towards the front, even though that's a challenge in itself.

If anyone is blocking my view at V today by sitting on shoulders they will get the end of my pint thrown at them.

the closest i've ever been to something like that was way back in the 80's when I went to see the WWF Summerslam event at Wembley Stadium.

This bloke turned up 2 rows in front of me wearing these massive spiked shoulderpads. He obviously must have seen the look of mortification on my face because he said "Am I in your way mate?". I said "Yes you are" and he replied "Shame..". Git

People on other people's shoulders is bad but having your experience ruined by someone waving a flag saying 'I heart sausages' is truly galling

Festival tickets aren't cheap

I often wonder about this. I've never been to a gig but I see people doing this on tv and it seems incredibly selfish and rude to the people standing behind them. I'm actually surprised the authorities allow it

Being male and 5' 6'' I've spent most of my adult life standing behind taller people, craning my neck, trying to get some kind of view of the bass player - or maybe just a roadie

Ah well ... you get to be part of the atmosphere...

Doesn't bother me too much, I've been at a few gigs with my cousin and she usually ends up on my shoulders since she's tiny. The only thing that annoys me is the idiots at festivals who throw bottles and cans

Would have been 11.

Wrestling events aren't the greatest to go too expecting to get a good view though. You get those that get the front seats and then stand on the bloody things.

It might not bother you, but what about the people directly behind you who can't see ?

Don't get me wrong if someone can't see and they complain to me I will apologize and bring her down, I only do it for 1 or 2 songs, if she was taller I wouldn't do it. It's just because sometimes she can't see a thing depending on the people in front of her.
