What's going on with supplies of the HDR-Fox T2

Their seems to be plenty of online availability of the HDR-Fox T2 but no stock in the large major electrical retailers even John lewis informs me that they are available at their central wharehouse for delivery to home or store but no stock held in any stores.
What the devil is going on ???

Humax sent out a form that retailers needed to fill in and return, supposedly to ensure that only suitably competent retailers got supplies initially.

Makes a mockery of it though if on-line retailers have supplies

Yes, it does seem rather silly - and I notice that although Tesco Direct now have it listed (but out of stock), their price is £349.97, waaay above most other retailers.

I ordered mine from Very. Wasn't expected them to deliver until next week but I've got it on Friday

Does this mean that only competent users can purchase one i think that Humax has lost the plot big time after all it is only a PVR not rocket science or maybe it is more complicated to use than we have been led to understand and you need a science degree to use it !!!!

Remember there are loads of people who still can't program their VCRs.

Strange that stores like Currys and PC World, stores that have never had a good reputation as far as demonstrating and answering technical questions, are not only stocking it, but only have it available online only.

As an aside, a couple of days ago I contacted Customer Services at Argos to ask if they are planning to stock the HDR-Fox (I have some vouchers, and plenty of Nectar points), they replied saying that that cannot say what will be added to the catalogue in the future, but to keep looking at the website.

Not particularly helpful or promising.

I wonder if this will be similar to the Foxsat supply situation where, initially at least, Currys had supplies at their stores, but were not on display (i.e in the rear warehouse)?

As I recall, it was quite a time before you could reserve one online for pickup at a local store.
