Hope Inbetweeners does well, it's one of those sitcoms which actually creates a lot of buzz, and weirdly, it's something I can watch with my dad - unlike something like Skins.

As for Heartbeat, it should return - but I'd like to see a Life on Mars/Ashes To Ashes element as it enters the 1970s.

Why have the characters been in the 1960s for so long? Has Lord Ashfordly meddled with time?

It would ruin the show, arguably - but it could take it into another direction, appealing to older viewers and sci-fi viewers - because I'm sure we've all watched the programme before.

Apologies for an error in my aussie ratings report- the top rated multichannel show was actually the final episode of Heartbeat which had 390k on 7Two.

More haste, less speed!

I assume Q&A is basically Question Time?

That would appeal to literally nobody!

I rarely comment on this thread but this must be one of the most ridiculous suggestions I have read yet, so I can't help but comment.

I hope your tongue is firmly in cheek PJ.

Yes, it's extremely similar in style and format. Good numbers for it last night, but to be expected.

It's an idea I've had for a while - come on - why do they keep celebrating Happy New Year 1969?

Lord Ashfordly has messed with the calendars! He's trying to deceive the villagers somehow.

Next year, Blaketon lives and returns to solve this mystery - leading to a massive showdown between Ashfordly and Blaketon!

And the cliffhanger for the next series of Hearbeat could be Blaketon falling into a time vortex!

...No?

Blaketon goes back to WWII, a la Sam Tyler going back to the '70s.

Obviously though, Blaketon lived during WWII so it would be more of a prequel.

I hope so to, hopefully it will get 2 million+ viewers, I hope it does becuase its worth it, but iu dont think anything below 1.7/8 million will be dissapointing.

inbetweeners series 2 episodes peaked at 1.21m including +1 - I think c.1.5m would be quite an achievement but it is likely ratings will grow by word of mouth as the series progresses..

Series 2

Rank
2 April 2009 The Field Trip (Battered Fish) 1.21 #1
9 April 2009 Work Experience 1.18 #1

I'd forgotten about that. I expect I watched it, but I can't remember what it was like. I remember a Christmas special with Ronnie Corbett and Bruce Forsyth in the late eighties. 1988, perhaps. That didn't get past one episode either!
Bruce and Ronnie! Hence the name. That was indeed in 1988, they'd presented the Royal Variety Performance and been quite successful so they were given this show, but during rehearsals the producer Marcus Mortimer came in weeping and said "I don't know how to tell you this but we're on Boxing Day at eleven o'clock".

Brucie did another BBC1 special the following year on his own - in a better slot - which struck me as a bit strange as he was still contracted to ITV at the time.

Interesting analysis of Daybreak's regional spread from ariusuk: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...&postcount=422

Comparing Friday with the previous Friday, there was also a >10% increase in men.

Interestingly the regional spread has changed slightly. Daybreak, like GMTV was, is very strong in Northern Ireland - outperforming the national average by 50%.

Daybreak is performing much better than GMTV did in the North East, East Anglia and Wales. But has lost audience in London.

In Scotland, Daybreak is outperforming Breakfast, which GMTV didn't do.

interesting that the London backdrop has not affected viewing in the regions farthest from London.

Saints and Scroungers wasn't shown nationally. The 7:30pm slot on BBC One was occupied by several different regional programmes last night. I presume the figure above is for all those different shows.

Excellent for Traffic Cops last night it has to be said, outrating Dragons' Den in a late 10:35pm slot. I hope they keep it in that slot though because it's not a 9pm show IMO.

They are:

Slightly up compared to the last weeks of GMTV
About the same as the annual average of GMTV
Slightly down on the first week of Daybreak

Not the 2nd most watched if we exclude +1. Without a Trace got 2.25m in the overnights, for example.

Still an excellent performance especially for a UK commission on multi-channel and something E4 should be proud of.

I'm surprised it has dropped below a 20% audience share already. Coupled with the AI figures, I'd have to agree with your summary.

Just a note (not that it'll affect TV ratings), it seems like The Inbetweeners has crashed TV Catchup.com.

Thats an incredible rise between series for The Inbetweeners:
500k for the 1st series.
1.2m for the 2nd series
2.6m for the 3rd series.

Those are only rough numbers based from memory but I think that is beyond what Gavin and Stacey achieved on BBC3. E4 should be very proud of having such a show, it outrated everything shown on Channel 4 yesterday by a long way.
