No doubt a storyline featuring someone either dying, leaving the square or returning to the square?

Personally I prefer Christmas episodes to consist of good character writing of families and friends sat around eating Christmas dinner than someone getting murdered or whatever.

Yes, I don't think they want to have an episode up against the football.

When is EastEnders at Xmas not massive? They have to pull out all the stops to entertain the millions of extra viewers that sample it on that day, often not through choice!

Lacy Turner (Stacey) who is one of the most popualr actress in soap is leaving.

EastEnders have tried happy Xmas but didn't go down as well with Cast and Viewers

I think it was axed because they couldn't re-edit it properly, removing the autotune. The axed episode APPARENTLY (just what I read on the forum) has
Spoiler
the slap on stage and Cheryl's collapse - so it's probably more action packed than most.

Plus December it's dark and cold”

Yes - it was boiling in February wasn't it?

There's been quite a few times they've had a low key xmas but as i said earlier
it didn't go down as well with Cast and Viewers

2004(or it could have been 2005)
Kat and Alfies Happy ending was dull imo

According to the Met office
It's been the hottest Febuary for 50 years

What's on TV's front covers department will be in crisis in 2011 then.

it is true that EE at Christmas is something specail, I dont think any other show could get away with half of what EE dishes out on Christmas Day, seriously if you look at Christmas specails anywehre else, they are happy affairs, with characters doing acts of charity, and kids believing in Santa.

Doctor Who comes close, but the Doctor always shows up to save the day, unlike on EastEnders.

They are bound to show those bits, especially the latter. They'll just tack them onto another episode I bet.

I still remember seeing Stacey's breath coming out as steam (or whatever the technical term is for it ) when she told Max she'd killed Archie.

I'm a big x factor fan (as you may have guessed ) but I have to say that the show this year so far has really not captured my attention as in previous years. To be honest the audition phase has bored me for a few years now but I agree completely with the above poster who said that this year they have become more formulaic and predictable than any other. IMO the amount of auditions eps need to be cut back dramatically and focus on more contestants briefly in order to stop being so predictable, for example it's already obvious that Gamu, Tesco's lady and boyband will make at least judges house if not live show when at this stage the viewer really should not know that. The year Leona won the first time she caught my attention was judges houses- that just would not be allowed to happen any more and it's a great shame.

I really hope that there is some brilliant talent this year and that the judges house/ live shows are as entertaining as ever...

Sorry, I shouldn't have used the word 'axed'. I don't think the episode's been dropped completely. It's just being aired on a different date.

Well to be far to Corrie - when they said there wouldn't be a live episode ( on this Morning i think) it was teh old Executive Producer ( Kim Crowther) and their has since been a change of producer ( Phil Collinson) so I think it was more to do with the new Producer wanting to do something different!

Just read alot of bad reviews but the ratings are still up on last year by average I believe.”

Well as i said above, they have a new producer since say May/June so the quality has increased a lot since then!

Yeah wheras the live episode has been rumoured since say April about the time when the Tram crash was announced. So 8 months beforehand!

Phil Collinson ruled out a live episode sort of in his interview with DS saying it was unlikely.

I have no issue with them doing a live ep, just wish they weren't so obviously trying to copy EE's success.

The fact they can rule in or out live eps as late as August 2010 shows their planning is all over the place.

Lucky for them Jessie Wallace, the predecessor to Lacey Turner/Stacey, is on her way back then. Ah EE with all the big stars.
