And they are still the "biggest commercial breakfast programme"”

Ah i c! Yh i thought that about a few of them but im sure some are kinda recent, could b wrong though.

Are they still the biggest commercial breakfast programme in Europe though? i hard that being said a couple of times too.

Is it not Top Gear?

12.45m sets a nice baseline for comparing with ep2's ratings this time next week.

Wednesday: NEW DRAMA: Midsomer Murders (Not STV)

Is this one (highlighted) a new reality/gameshow format?

Not the most inspiring new season line up overall, in fairness. Crime drama, crime drama, "true crime" factu-drama, medical docu-lite, another tilt at past glories, and more daytime fare filling gaps in the primetime schedule.

I have to disagree - I thought it was v. good!

The speech made in it was quite poigniant, it was about the crime that had taken place, but also had hints of becuase of it ending.

Plus for once ITV actually did the right thing and used the old credit music ( albeit mixed with new.) and had different credits rather than just the standard black credits - ITV should use more of them, they look so much better than just the black standard credits.

Also a nice touch to dedicate it to past and present police!

It was good but not for a final to a show of 27 years
I did like the respect Speech and the episode was good but as i say it could have ended better
A LIVE episode would have been nice
I remember their past ones and they were brilliant.

Just looking at the new officials. With MoTD doing such good business (4.21m on BBC1, 3.42m on BBC2), I wonder if ITV will be lining up a bid for next time?

I do think MoTD Sunday should air on BBC1, after the news at 10.15. It often has the biggest games of the weekend, but is shunted onto BBC2.

Hadn't noticed The Bill's passing tonight.

Like millions of others, I thought it had finished ages ago...

Well i don't think they could have done much more really!

& there cutting back hence why the axed it - so there hardly going to want to spend god knows how much on a Live episode.

Being Live is good for an even like EE 25th & Corrie 50th, but it would have ruined a great ending, they wouldn't have been able to do all the scenes they did tonight.

You post on this thread reguarly, you see The Bill ratings reported throughout this year, i'd be surprised if you somehow managed to miss it all

Ok everyone knows your hate for ITV, but for goodness , whether you like it or not, it's the end of a TV era. You don't hear anyone on hear saying that for Last of the Summer Wine. Whilst they might not like it, they appreciate that it's been on for so long that it desreves to go out on a high!

I used to think that you added a bit of comedy to this thread, But honestly nobody respects you on this thread anymore!

I guess so but it felt like they needed to do more
Have the original credits at the start and end the show with pictures of past casts and the original theme tune.

Considering that when it moved to 9pm ITV spent millions on a massive marketing campaign for it I don't think they can be accused of 'killing it off'. It is the programme makers' fault that the first few months worth of episodes at 9pm were poor, not ITV's. I do think the 9pm version debuting against New Tricks did it more long-term harm than people realise as it limited the initial sampling audience (knocked about 1-1.5m off it) and got people out of the habit of watching it, as by the time NT ended people were out of the habit of watching it. Note how older viewers represented the largest portion of the drop when it moved to 9pm.

Moving it to Tuesdays really killed it off as it was averaging about 4m before they moved it there but it was axed by then anyway, and it shows how much it was relying on the Corrie lead-in. At least it means that ITV have an extra £25m per year to put into new drama, but yes it really is the end of an era.

It was like 100% definate that they wouldn't show the old opening credits ( well it's like admitting the current ones weren't that good) but i'm suprised they did for the credit music! So thankfully they did the right thing!

are you a Micheal Winner impersonist by any chance?

I admit I am more favourable to ITV , but thats the point i'm making - you make out as though your not the biggest BBC Fan boy there is!

Like i said, people used to enjoy you posts as a bit of light hearted banter. But by doing what your doing, people wont take any notice of your post any more!

If I'm churning out the same old tired dross week after week, maybe I could get a job in the Cowell empire?

Back from holiday,s aw that BB final/UBB laucn got 4.1m which is great and the 2 HLs after did very well for UBB but dropped a bit... however tonight ratings should pick up IMO.

Watched it for the first time tonight (UBB) really enjoyed it, especially Victor
