Why Ulrika?
![]() Still, I reckon Chantelle and Preston was a masterstroke. Good for getting the papers talking. |

I think some are milking Shortland Street's disappointing return a bit too much. Let's give LIVING some credit for delivering first run content in the daytime, something that the vast majority of digital channels do not do. Furthermore, it's too early to write it off after two episodes. It could still improve, and whilst obviously 10k is on the poor side, it is not as terrible as it might seem for a pay TV channel at 3pm. However I suspect they were hoping for more and it will need to grow its audience over time for it to have any chance of becoming a long term fixture of LIVING's schedule.
There's a pretty major serial killer storyline coming up shortly which should deliver a boost. During this storyline, episodes in New Zealand peaked at a 60% viewing share. |

Yeah but Eastenders have a massive storyline and an exit to one of soaps most Iconic faces on 10th sept
8.30- Big Brother 9.30- Pete v Life 10.00- Big Brother Is Eastenders an hour long that night? In which case its up against both soaps for the first half hour and then New Tricks, but should do OK up against the latter. But depending on tonights rating they might get away with one long show 9-11pm. |

The first show always does go up against Eastenders and generally rates as well as a regular eviction show- its the 10pm show that attracts the viewers. Its normally 8-9pm then 10-11pm.
EE might dent BB a bit more this time because it's a big episode (Peggy's exit), though fortunately for BB it'll only be a 10 minute overlap (30mins if you count the Peggy special). As for New Tricks, I don't think it will be much of a factor in denting the UBB final audience. They'll only clash for 30 mins and probably have very different audiences. |

DigiGuide update has New Tricks starting on Friday 10th September for its new series. ... Paul O'Grady Live, which is supposed to be starting on the same night for ITV1, might struggle.
He just got nuked! Quote:
I noticed BBC One has a 1 hour EE block, first of all a 40 minute episode, than 20 minutes of "Peggy MItchell: Queen of the Vic" I assume is 20 minute filler before New Tricks.
Quote:
Yes, and there's a 35 minute episode on the Tuesday. Someone at ITV won't be pleased, especially with Friday.
Quote:
I am assuming that the reaction to the BBC scheduling extra EastEnders clashing with Corrie will be the same here as it would be if ITV scheduled extra Corrie opposite EastEnders
Quote:
I think the BBC should have held this episode on to Thursday 9th Dec 7:45pm-8:45pm

A shortened show for Paul O'Grady? Surely that's not going to happen until two or three weeks later.
![]() ![]() An uncalled-for slur on Mr O'Grady, who has delivered primetime hit after hit for ITV over the years...

The ratings are going to be interesting, hopefully we're lucky enough to get a 5 minute or 15 minute breakdown in the morning.
Just bad news for Channel 4 that the final ever show will clash with EastEnders and New Tricks then on September 10th, because the latter will slaughter Big Brother. However, this might also make Channel 5 wary of taking it on as their ratings are lower than Channel 4's and the audience who lap up CSI, martial arts films and NCIS won't be happy. |

I think you answered your first question with your final sentence. The ones they have picked are all tabloid favourites and are likely to get the series a lot of press coverage, something that the show has missed for the last couple of years.
I guess she's a name though and will be good for the headlines. All in all a great line-up to grab attention I think. May draw in a few curious viewers who haven't watched in a while. |

That's putting it euphemistically.
He just got nuked! Bizarre - could have had a one hour ep and perfect lead in to the new New Tricks. Surely ITV will just run Corrie now for an hour at 7.30 with Countryfile, sorry, -wise at 8.30? Nonsense. ITV remains the villain of the piece for having such a failing schedule of programmes these days that they have to wrap their two soaps around every episode of EastEnders in a desperate attempt to lure back viewers. EE has a long tradition of extended special episodes going back 25 years - if you have your way, that would be no more because EE would be hemmed in to its current 30 min slots. What happens on 9th December? ![]() ![]() An uncalled-for slur on Mr O'Grady, who has delivered primetime hit after hit for ITV over the years... ![]()
Spoiler
As EastEnders will attract casual viewers anyway and might still thrash corrie even starting half-way through |

Its a hard one to call though, just think back to last year when 4.3m went over to BBC3!
I guess with EastEnders going 8:00pm-8:40pm people might miss corrie and just watch the Peggy special till 9:00pm |

Its a great line-up, a few popular and hated old " normal" contestants and the headline grabbing "celebs" such as McCririck and Chantelle and Preston. The fact there is so much BB chat in this thread and none of it coming from Salv is a good indication of its fortunes. Quote:
Yeah but that was the LIVE aftermath from the live episode but imo BBC were stupid their and should have aired it on BBC1.

I guess with EastEnders going 8:00pm-8:40pm people might miss corrie and just watch the Peggy special till 9:00pm Regardless of the rating it wasn't really strong enough material for BBC One itself. |

It wasn't stupid. It smashed the multi-channel record. Well worth doing in my view.
Regardless of the rating it wasn't really strong enough material for BBC One itself. BBC Three is there for a reason too - might as well close it if we used the "it should have been on BBC1" logic. |

Be amusing if they got an injunction a few days before to stop the storyline running, thus taking Corrie's second big storyline this year off air at short notice...

I often see her face in the papers even though she hasn't been in much, apart from Shooting Stars, since she was in CBB 18 months ago.

The fact there is so much BB chat in this thread and none of it coming from Salv is a good indication of its fortunes. I wouldnt say they were stupid, they had no idea how popular the aftermath show was going to be. The BBC were probably hoping for 2m let alone 4m. The Peggy special will rate very well, most of the viewers who watch the normal EE episode will just keep the Peggy special on. |

I did wonder if Metrolink (the Manchester tram operators) might get a bit upset about this storyline, given they have had one of their trams running across the opening titles (in slightly comedy fashion) for the past decade or so, and everyone associates them with Manchester.
They no doubt have
