Is Eastenders an hour long that night? In which case its up against both soaps for the first half hour and then New Tricks, but should do OK up against the latter. But depending on tonights rating they might get away with one long show 9-11pm.

Doesn't the final usually begin at 8:30pm? I think BB7&BB9 were the only summer finals which began at 8pm.
EE might dent BB a bit more this time because it's a big episode (Peggy's exit), though fortunately for BB it'll only be a 10 minute overlap (30mins if you count the Peggy special). As for New Tricks, I don't think it will be much of a factor in denting the UBB final audience. They'll only clash for 30 mins and probably have very different audiences.

Nonsense. ITV remains the villain of the piece for having such a failing schedule of programmes these days that they have to wrap their two soaps around every episode of EastEnders in a desperate attempt to lure back viewers. EE has a long tradition of extended special episodes going back 25 years - if you have your way, that would be no more because EE would be hemmed in to its current 30 min slots.

I reckon it will average out at 2.5 million, but I do reckon anything will struggle against those two. However, the hardcore fans will watch regardless and I doubt people who watch New Tricks are unlikely to watch BB and vice versa. Maybe if the last episode of BB is slaughtered in the ratings, then Channel 4 can feel vindicated for cancelling it- perhaps this is the game plan by putting it against EE.
However, this might also make Channel 5 wary of taking it on as their ratings are lower than Channel 4's and the audience who lap up CSI, martial arts films and NCIS won't be happy.

I think you answered your first question with your final sentence. The ones they have picked are all tabloid favourites and are likely to get the series a lot of press coverage, something that the show has missed for the last couple of years.

No 40mins But with it being the Big Explosion and Peggys exit there's a special on BBC1 till 9:00pm anyway so i guess people will watch that or head to ITV1 for corrie

Yeah but that was the LIVE aftermath from the live episode but imo BBC were stupid their and should have aired it on BBC1.

I often see her face in the papers even though she hasn't been in much, apart from Shooting Stars, since she was in CBB 18 months ago.
Its a great line-up, a few popular and hated old " normal" contestants and the headline grabbing "celebs" such as McCririck and Chantelle and Preston.
The fact there is so much BB chat in this thread and none of it coming from Salv is a good indication of its fortunes.

I wouldnt say they were stupid, they had no idea how popular the aftermath show was going to be. The BBC were probably hoping for 2m let alone 4m.
The Peggy special will rate very well, most of the viewers who watch the normal EE episode will just keep the Peggy special on.

It wasn't stupid. It smashed the multi-channel record. Well worth doing in my view.
Regardless of the rating it wasn't really strong enough material for BBC One itself.

I did wonder if Metrolink (the Manchester tram operators) might get a bit upset about this storyline, given they have had one of their trams running across the opening titles (in slightly comedy fashion) for the past decade or so, and everyone associates them with Manchester.
