X Factor did very well considering the competition and increased in viewers, if it can build on this by the time we get to the live shows then Seven should be onto a winner.

Watching a bit of it on Youtube, it's identical to the UK show in every possible way. Wonder where they will be filming the live shows?

I do think EastEnders rating was poor last night. It may have been Bank Holiday... but people tuned into Coronation Street and I imagine lots of viewers watch both Corrie and EastEnders... why would viewers just stick to ITV1 until the next Corrie and not switch over like they normally do?”

EE's rating only looks slightly less than normal, the real indication of a drop is in the share but as Corrie often has shares of 34/35 percent on a Thursday and at 8.30 I don't think people should be making too big a deal out of it. You would have a point if everyone who watched Corrie also watched EE and if EE wasn't more popular in the younger demos who may have been out on bank holiday Monday but as those factors exist it's all a bit redundant.

Last night shows that EastEnders don't have the monopoly on big episodes. People have been banging on about the Peggy/fire episodes for weeks as if it was the only thing happening in soap land over the next month, and then last night's Corrie sneaked up unnoticed and blew away the competition.”

Well to be fair it's not EE's fault that it generates more discussion than Corrie. Nobody's saying they have a monopoly on big episodes, it just seems there isn't much anticipation for big Corrie episodes. Perhaps because Corrie is only just re-emerging from a 3/4 year bad patch, people are still a bit wary and are not sure what to expect from its big episodes?

I do feel gavin has a point as Corrie often has shares in the lower 30s yet its treated as routine yet when EE gets a rare share south of 35 percent it's a big deal. But on the other hand I think it's a positive for EE, it shows what a good Summer EE has had that a rare lower rating can attract such exaggerated attention. I just don't like the way people ignore the fact it was a bank holiday but also the fact Corrie had a big ep so was always going to be higher!

Maybe just maybe the ratings were low because no one wanted to watch it?

Err except the ratings weren't that low at all, they just look lower than what they were due to the big gap with Corrie. A gap that was expected, given Corrie's big episode. Just like it's expected that Corrie's 8.30 ep on the 10th will be down. I'm sure you won't be saying 'no one wanted to watch it' then. Ratings fluctuate depending on circumstances and that my love is a fact. I doubt people who habitually follow soaps suddenly decided they didn't want to watch EE for one episode and then tune in again last night. Although it does seem with Corrie's decline from Monday to Friday that casual fans who sample the fare on a Monday don't return later in the week. At least EE's ratings are more consistent across the week.

All this soap fanboy crap is so boring. I shouldn't let myself get dragged into it. Although I did have to defend the frequently picked on gavin. And I suppose it beats the tedious XF fanboy-ism.

Just a note cricket123: DS have now updated, however, its irrelevant when they update as the ratings tend to be posted in this thread first, hence why its called The Ratings Thread.

ITV1
21:00 - The Bill: 4.3m (18.8%)

Possibly one of the worst kept secrets recently: http://www.itv.com/soaps/coronations...ieliveepisode/

Quote:
“After lots of speculation we can now confirm there will definitely be a LIVE episode of Coronation Street as part of the show's 50th anniversary celebrations.

Our producers are currently planning for the extra special episode to be transmitted later this year.

Our press officer said: "Everyone is very excited, if not to say a little nervous, about the prospect of a live episode but we felt it was fitting to go out live to the nation to celebrate such a prestigious anniversary."”

From ITV, confirmed:

Sunday 12th September
19:00 - David Jason: Battle of Britain* (new)
20:00 - Heartbeat (last ever episode)
21:00 - Albert's Memorial (new)
22:30 - ITV News

* note, ITV PI says 9pm, but this is an error

Heartbeat and Albert's Memorial clashes with the Heroes concert on BBC1... that'll be an interesting ratings battle, but I can see both doing well as they appeal to entirely different audiences.

Animals Do The Funniest Things (new) is down for 11th September from 17:45 to 18:45, but no mention of what is leading into The X Factor at 19:30...

EDIT: See below... I think we know what show below will generate the most discussion!

I'll tell you what, from next Sunday - the schedules ratings wise gets extremely competitive.

71 Degrees North may actually stand a chance directly after X Factor.

EDIT: And Bouquet of Barbed Wire gets a late night repeat at 22:45 the following Sunday after transmission: http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsSe...s_fullpage.jsp

EDIT 2: 71 Degrees North is also listed for the Tuesday at 9pm? http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsSe...s_fullpage.jsp

Confused. That's bizarre... I hope it doesn't start on Saturday then get thrown into the FlopSlot... maybe they're going to run it on Saturday's and Tuesday's?!!

UBB is slowly creeping back up, I think it lost momentum when John got evicted although somehow scored the best Saturday rating in years. It should climb back up to 3m on Friday, and it goes out at 9pm next Tuesday & Wednesday although its 8pm on the Thursday (its been displaced for 8 out of 10 Cats ).

Channel 4 have made quite 2 big mistakes on Monday and Thursday by scheduling;

Monday

20.00- Come Dine With Me: BB Winners Special
21.00- My Family's Crazy Gap Year
22.00- Big Brother

Thursday

20.00- Big Brother
21.00- Alan Davies' Teenage Revolution
22.00- 8 Out of 10 Cats BB Special

They should have switched BB with Gap Year and had the CDWM lead in to Big Brother, whilst on the Thursday they should have had BB leading in to 8 out of 10 Cats.

DS saying 2.66m for UBB (C4 says 2.57m which is for the full slot), 2.66m is not bad at all, at least its going up.... maybe around 2.8m for tonight and hitting 3m for Friday,

Interesting that E4 have quietly shelved the final Big Brother's Big Mouth of the series which was due to air at 11:35pm on Friday 10th.

It's been replaced by a movie.

I think its right that the last we see of BB is on Channel 4 and it will be the final. Theres more than enough BB related programming that night anyway from 7.30pm-11.35pm then a repeat of 8 Out Of 10 Cats BB special with an hour long BBLB on E4 at 6pm. Thats a total of 6 hours programming.

Probably right. Also just realised that "Davina's Big Send Off" sounds suspiciously like Big Mouth under a different guise.
