I think cricket123's particularly interested in the DS updates because they're the only website which mentions the primetime shares, which I think he's following/keeping a record of.

OK for The Bill's finale, but was expecting higher myself.”

Quite good for The Bill finale, I didn't expect it to get much more than 4m because there actually wasn't much buzz/hype about it. It was a 30% boost from last week and over 50% from most Tuesday episodes, so it did as well as it could IMO in that particular slot.

The Deep finished pretty decently too (4m including HD), which was a sound rise from last week.

Yeah the new format hasn't helped with the ratings apart from the initial boost. They're back to the levels it was at earlier in the year.

Confused. That's bizarre... I hope it doesn't start on Saturday then get thrown into the FlopSlot... maybe they're going to run it on Saturday's and Tuesday's?!!”

It'll be interesting to see how 71DN rates, simply because of the Saturday/Tuesday split. I don't think ITV's done that for a show since Millionaire a few years ago.

I can understand why they're splitting it because if they'd scheduled it just for Tuesdays, it would've had to take a week off in the middle of the series due to an England World Cup Qualifier. It would've spoilt any momentum the show might've been getting.

EastEnders did well to get 8m on a very hot day like yesterday was.

Was it? According to the Met Office the top temperature recorded in the UK yesterday was 21C.

Not that hot really. There were air frosts in Scotland!

It was nice enough yesterday - I think calling it 'very hot' would be overstating it a tad though!

Does the sun not set at 7.30pm for you too though? Maybe not on planet soap

Jeff Randall's influence at Sky News continues to grow. From September 13th he will take over the 7PM slot from Martin Stanford. Poor decision in my view, I thought Martin's show was one of the few good formats on the channel.

Both are good shows. Is Jeff doing the full hour then? Or is it just a swap?

So I asumme Corrie/ITV didn't think the Tram crash was good enough(well not good enough to be EastEnders 16.6m) so they decide todo a LIVE episode 10 years after their first one and use(and I will quote what alot of Corrie fans said about Eastenders) 'A gimic just to pull the viewers in'

Not 100% but I think Jeff is doing the full hour. Martin is moving to 8-10 but SkyNews.com is not continuing.

Gosh I'm so confused now, yesterday I predicted about 4m for The Bill, and was told that it would do much better because it was being promoted so heavily, when I said I hadn't seen any promotion, I got several replies saying that it was in all the tabloids, TV mags and all over This morning, ITV. Now that it does quite modestly, all of a sudden it has had no hype/buzz........

OK, OK!! We get it now. You don't have to repeat your posts everyday and put some other spin on it. Let's just wait until December now and never mention it again until the ratings are in!

I think we both know that isnt going to happen.

Very big weekend. I doubt ITV will be pleased to see that Strictly is going to clash with X Factor for 35 mins. I think the BBC should use the tactic more of ending Strictly 20 or 30 mins into X Factor to give a dent.

Heaven forbid that ITV are going to use their best slot of the week to a new show. Think of the damage it will do to Xtra Factor though.

They are putting a top presenter like Martin Stanford on the 15 minute news updates??

For heaven's sake, John Ryley is running Sky News into the ground. It's one terrible decision after another.

No indication that he will be doing 15 minute bulletin updates. It could be a new format

Why are you confused ? People have different opinions, just because one or two people replied back to you and said they're expecting 5m+ doesn't mean it's actually going to get that! Like you, I personally didn't see much hype at all. I don't watch This Morning or GMTV, haven't actually seen one advert for The Bill, though admittedly I've barely watched ITV1 in the last couple of weeks, and no-one I spoke to yesterday (or any other day for that matter) even mentioned it outside of these forums. I genuinely didn't expect much more than 4m, I predicted that on the Ratings Game.

There's been small increases in The Bill's ratings over the last few weeks but nothing to indicate it was suddenly going to get an extra 2-3m last night.

Actually i don't and im mearly stating that people slagged EastEnders off for doing it yet it's ok for corrie
Talk about Fu*king Double Standards there

I guess if Corrie was origianl anymore
they could have come up with a different idea of actually pulling in the viewers rather then go back on their word of not doing one in order to top EastEnders massive rating after the cast and crew slated EastEnders for doing one
because they've been their and done that

That was my reaction, hopefully they will drop the 15 minute updates and develop a new format for Martin but given John Ryley's fondness for the 15 min updates which are cheap and don't rate horrendously, I would say it's unlikely.

I just sometimes think there's other ratings and shows to talk about instead of the endless (and i do mean endless) Corrie, EE debate!

It was up on last week's episode. It sunk around episode 3 but should have been drowned in the orginal pitch to the BBC.

I do doubt that. Everything is being done on the cheap now because the HD upgrades have cost so much. Money which Sky News didn't have. And now it's having to pay it back so everything is being cut and the quality of the output has dropped dramatically.

Sounds like Martin is being treated as badly as some of the other more senior names at the channel like Paula Middlehurst who has suffered a similar fate. Earlier this year Chris Roberts was let go after 12 years.

I do question how much longer it can go on like this. The channel is still not profitable. BSkyB clearly have little faith in it and are not prepared to subside it properly. But I don't see how the figures can improve now when the channel is in the worst state it's been in for months, if not years! Putting it behind a paywall also seems unlikely given they missed a golden opportunity to do so when Sky News HD launched.

Fair point rzt, I get completely swept up in the opinions here, as you said they are just that, opinions! And as can be seen from The Bills performance, very often the notions here are based on hopes rather than realistic expectations, I need to learn not to take everything on here as gospel, thanks for the reply
