Sky Getting Back Into Movie Business
Quote:
The pay-TV giant wants to hear pitches for movies and two-part miniseries as it moves back into original feature production. Sky wants to co-produce three big event TV movies each year. The problem, it says, will be finding UK projects of sufficient scale and quality – a problem which Warner Bros also faces developing British blockbusters. Brit producers tend to think small-scale and intimate. “We’re looking for big exclusive events that can add value to the movie subscription,” Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies tells me. “A lot of the projects we’ve sifted already were easy to turn down. Full Story: Deadline London
“We’re looking for the kinds of stories, cast and production values that we would see on the movie channels.” |

Where i come from a Sense of Humour is a good thing I guess i can hold my head up high and say i can actually Take a Joke Yes and it's ironic considering George was telling everyone else to get a sense of humour a few hours ago. Quote:

1) Reach.
2) Appreciation. Appreciation Index isnt a great measure either. DIY SOS got an appreciation of 85 last Thursday. While on that same night Eastenders got 80, Corrie and Emmerdale both got 82 and on Saturday X Factor got 80. Does that mean DIY SOS is the best and most popular out of all of the shows? Quote:
Do I sense another Facebook campaign coming on?
![]() To be fair The X Factor is in a far more dominant position right now after last year. A closer contest this year would be enjoyable. And to see TXF knocked off its perch a bit? That too would be satisfying, because it seems Cowell and co need bringing down a peg or two. ![]() Shame on you Dan.

Well to be fair you're no saint, your carry on when EE got 13m+ viewers at xmas 2007 is still one of the most memorable DS rants of all time.
![]() I admit, i'm no saint either, but at least my rant lasted just one day. Lol! I'm surprised people can still remember that rant. I'm honoured it still lives on. And did you just become a "fan" of dan2008 on Facebook!

I think he's joking with the older audience bit. Of course the best way for the BBC to measure how well it is serving its audience is ratings, and it does irritate me when people say that the BBC shouldn't care about ratings because of course they should. They certainly aren't the only way that the BBC should measure its success though.
Great start for Waterloo Road. It still begs the question of why are they airing it tonight? With a stronger performance last night I think it'll be able to nudge past 4m tonight. I actually thought last night's episode was much better than anything from the Spring run but WR goes through good and bad patches and last year the Autumn run was much better than the Spring one so we'll see how it goes. Not sure what they'll do with George Gently. A Sunday slot seems most likely with the documentary moved to another night. Will be an interesting battle between it and Joe Maddison's War, and scheduling will be key. I suspect Spooks will take the Tuesday slot as I can't see them wanting it to clash with Whitechapel on Mondays or Law and Order on Thursdays when ITV are not airing drama on Tuesday. That will leave the Wednesday slot free for The Apprentice too in a few weeks. 7:00pm Emmerdale 7:30pm Coronation Street (still the tram crash aftermath) 8:30pm Joe Maddison's War 10:00pm News at Ten Because there won't be a 9pm junction for viewers to flock to BBC One, maybe Joe Maddison's War (with the trustee Robson Green tag) will do very well for them. It's a slot which I think 'The Fattest Man In Britain' should have had too. |

I watch X Factor and enjoy it, but I really want it to do drop in the ratings a lot... Simon Cowell thinks he's untouchable....

Reach is a rating. You posted the other week that X Factor had a "reach" of 14m for X Factor's first weekend.

No. The reach is anyone who watched any part of the show, not the average of all screenings across channels
Ill start by adding 1m to every Doctor Who episode this year.

On Joe Maddison's War, I hope they save this for a Wednesday night slot near Christmas:
7:00pm Emmerdale 7:30pm Coronation Street (still the tram crash aftermath) 8:30pm Joe Maddison's War 10:00pm News at Ten Because there won't be a 9pm junction for viewers to flock to BBC One, maybe Joe Maddison's War (with the trustee Robson Green tag) will do very well for them. Yeah, I think it should've been saved for the Christmas period because ITV don't have many dramas lined up for that time of the year. But the DVD is out in mid-September so it's probably airing quite soon.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "We're happy to discuss the scheduling, but as far as we're aware it is ITV boss Peter Fincham and not Simon Cowell who makes this decision so it would be best that we talk with him.

Typical of him to trot out the licence fee payers argument.
![]() If I were in Cowell's shoes, I'd be hoping Merlin rates reasonably well on September 11th and 18th, otherwise it might be flipping with SCD in October.
