The Brits have done a National Television Awards and are moving from Earl's Court to The O2. ITV have also signed a new 3 year deal to keep showing it.

Quote:
“The Brit Awards are to move to the O2 arena in south east London from Earl's Court in the west of the city.

The annual UK music awards ceremony has been held at Earl's Court for the past 11 years.

The O2, which became a music venue in 2007 and was built largely within the former Millennium Dome, is based in North Greenwich.

Next year's Brit awards will be held on 15 February.

Brits bosses have also announced a further three-year deal with ITV to show the event live on television.

The Brits moving to the O2 has been planned for ages and also Earl's Court is turning into flats so they would have had to move anyway. The O2 should allow them to make any changes to the show.

Very good night for ITV1-much better than everyone, including myself predicted. It seems if Corrie gets the Sunday slot for more than one week then the viewers start returning and considering it started at 7pm that's a very good rating, especially up against 5m for Countryfile and 3.5m for Transformers. It also boosted Heartbeat by about 0.8m and it's a shame the final HB won't have the Corrie lead in, but ITV don't seem to be advertising it at all, let alone the last episode, because I don't think it's been filmed as one. Surprised most of the audience stuck with U Be Dead, considering ITV's traditional drop. I do think if ITV set up Corrie for the night on a Sunday then people will stick with ITV and watch the dramas, especially when all the other terrestrials were showing films and factual.

Last of the Summer Wine apparently took 800,000 viewers away from the first half hour of Heartbeat last week after quite a bit of promotion by the BBC-so there is a market for goodbyes it seems. However Heartbeats demise wont be recognised by the script in any way which maybe is why they are not pushing it-that and the fact that they probably think its a waste of time plugging something that has been declared dead. As far as C/S is concerned-as far as we know there are no plans to bring it back to Sunday so its just fate putting it there at the moment.
A quick word on Secret Brittain-not much more than another hour of Countryfile so the BBC will be pleased it has pretty much won four weeks of primetime hours in that slot.

If anyone cares, a My Family DVD saga update: my copy arrived today, and it contains nine episodes.

Looks as though George "Uncle Jimmy" Dixon had a bit of a cock-up on the scheduling front.

I care!

Yeah, I thought they would go for nine.

IMO, My Family does not work in the 9:00 slot, it's a family comedy show ... I think the rest of the episodes should be shown in the 7:30 slot on a weds whenever its back? (In the new year?)

I'm not sure when it's back. I suppose they might keep those two episodes and show them at the start of the next series, or maybe they'll slot them in somewhere before then.

Didn't GMTV usually get 800k on average. I wonder if many knew that it was the last GMTV. As it was hardy mentioned.

I'm still struggling with light-switches.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're already there.

Maybe Fridays at 8:30pm? QI will take them up to the end of November, so they'll have a few slots available before Christmas in which I doubt they will launch a new series. (although, you never know, this is the BSI after all and they operate in mysterious ways!)

I doubt many knew. They were under strict instructions apparently to keep it all very low key. Although for what it's worth I quite liked how it ended with the old theme music.

Albeit rather abruptly to launch into a Daybreak advert!

Big Brother Final/UBB Launch got 4.5m... that is around 1.3m higher than the BB10 final and only 200,000 lower on the CBB7 final.

Could this be the beginning of the end as Cowell seems more interested in America now?

I always figured that is how it would end, him doing 1 or 2 series in the states.

They could have shown one at 8.30pm on the night of the MasterChef final, instead of the QI repeat.

Is it a shorter series of QI this time?

All speculation. In another article, it says:
Quote:
“According to ITV, reports that there will not be an X Factor next year is complete rubbish and according to a source at ITV, he said: “There is no way ITV would let The X Factor go from our screens for one year, it is one of the most successful ITV shows ever and is one of the biggest advertising revenue hits they have.”

http://www.in2town.co.uk/womenshowbi...g-The-X-Factor”

So there's nothing confirmed yet about what'll happen with next year's series. I don't think we'll find out until early next year.

But its hard to see them coping without the huge impact it makes.

There is an entire industry seemingly based on what is and isnt happening with every aspect of the Cowell empire -I guess its always too much to ask to wait and see what happens.
