Nobody there who is going to pull in the ratings IMO.”

I think it's a good bunch of contestants - better than last year's for sure. Ann Widecome could be this year's John Sergeant . A new set and better scheduling too, based on what we've heard so far this series has a good chance of claiming more viewers than the last one.

I agree, easily the best lineup for a good few series, hopefully it can do a bit better this year.

I agree too, I've actually heard of most of them, was a massive Destinys child fan, so will be lovely to see Michelle again, Ann Widdecome should be good fun, and Goldie could be great.

Seems like about 100,000 people swam back from ITV1 to BBC1... good peak as well for BBC Breakfast.

Do you have any primetime ratings, in particular the 9pm battle?

So, if I'm reading that correctly, by daybreak2, the ratings are more or less back where they were (based on annual averages) when GMTV was on air? If so, was it all worth it?

So this Saturday, Gavin Henson will be jumping from BBC ONE over to ITV1...

How will 71 Degrees perform?
3.5m on launch, down to 2.5m on the Tuesdays?

On day 2 the gap between Breakfast and ITV's breakfast show of 600k is actually wider than when GMTV was still on air.

* Breakfast yearly average: 1.45m
* GMTV yearly average: 0.88m

I think the broadcaster that will be most happy with these initial figures are the BBC. Breakfast is going from strength to strength picking up former GMTV viewers on top of its usual loyal audience of about 1.4m.

Others will argue, "give it 6 months, Rome wasn't built in a day" but this is all we have to go on so far, and the early verdict isn't good for Daybreak. Not good at all.

I think we really need to know the yearly average for both from 06:00 to 08:30 - it maybe that GMTV's yearly average for that time is ~0.6m/0.7m, which would make Daybreak's figures look better.

Fair point. All these people not getting their 5-a-day, ITV have a lot to answer for!

(I am of course making reference to a particularly pretentious segment on Daybreak)

Terrible night for BBC Two after 9pm. I thought the schools thing would do better as I know this is a big concern for a lot of parents. The Mercury prize was more predictably low, it never rates that well. And the comments and stuff beforehand was dull- it's the performances and winner announcement that people want to see. The winner was revealed right at the end of the half hour programme and the performances didn't follow until after Newsnight- pretty horrible scheduling to be honest, they normally utilise BBC Four but they were busy having a rugby league night.

What an awful night for ITV1, even by FlopZone standards...it can't be long before Millionaire falls below 3m now (not including the episode which clashed with the new Prime Minister) and surely then questions will be asked about its recomission. I expected about half a million more for the the 9pm doc aswell, because it's the sort of stuff which usual rates OK. I can see 71 Degrees launching with ~5m. It's got one of the best slots of the week and its a reality show. Even The Prisoner launched with 3m off the back off BGT, so I'd be extremely surprised if 71 Degrees is below 4m. However I can see it falling off a cliff on Tuesday to below 3m unfortunately. But good on ITV for actually giving it a chance to start with rather than simply starting it on Tuesdays.

CSI:Miami seems to be holding up very well this series, better than CSI I think and perhaps it's taken back some viewers which were stolen by The Bill?

Interesting night last night, then.

Solid night for BBC One, although EastEnders appeared to have been dented by the football, but I suspect the BBC Three airing would have took over 1m, making up for the poor BBC One figure. Crappy night for BBC Two after 9pm, really with sub 1m... crappy night from 8pm for ITV though, Help! did poorly, and that's what I fear may happen with 71 Degrees. If people don't like it on Saturday, then we may be in for some abysmal figures on Tuesday.

Channel 4 did well, as already noted, Big Brother's raw Channel 4 figure though is slightly poor considering it was 4th in the slot. Five did solidly after 9pm.
