To answer the question posted earlier about Metrolink the tram operator and whether they would be okay with the Coronation Street crash storyline.
Apparently they first planned to do a storyline a couple of years ago where one of the cast Claire Peacock became a tram driver and caused a crash, Metrolink refused to cooperate saying it would tarnish their excellent safety record. So they dropped it, making Claire a bus driver instead and then having an accident. So they have revamped it to get Metrolink on board.
Spoiler
As a result Metrolink have been happy to support the storyline and Corrie say they would not have gone ahead otherwise. |

3m is what I'd expect his series to get, anyway. If ITV are expecting much more, they're being completely unrealistic. Primetime chat shows don't work anymore.
Teatime, fine. Post-10pm news slot, fine. Primetime, low ratings ahoy. i.e 3m at 9pm is a flop, 2.5m at 10.30pm is a hit. Jonathan Ross's show didn't get 'that' high ratings normally |

All relative to the time of day.
i.e 3m at 9pm is a flop, 2.5m at 10.30pm is a hit. Delaying his show until 9pm won't bring in many extra viewers than it would get at 5pm. 9pm will probably make the show more expensive, too. You'd think Peter Fincham would have learned his lesson from Davina (Wednesdays, 8pm). Castaway 2011 coming soon to ITV1???

To be fair, its only that Friday in particular - because of the EastEnders episode and the Big Brother final... someone at BBC must have surely though "don't conclude the Queen Vic storyline then, it'll clash with the Big Brother final".
Obviously the final date for Big Brother was set months in stone, so the date is unmoveable. If it's any other Friday, then you'd have the normal pre-9pm ratings and New Tricks easily winning the 9pm slot with Paul O'Grady getting 3m. To start New Tricks and Paul O'Grady on the Big Brother final night is madness. Ironically too as BB shed viewers C4 seemed less and less concerned with putting it up against tough competition too. |

This My New Brain doc on C4 now, i was under the impression from the promos and title that he had been given a part of a brain, in some sort of transplant. But from watching it now, it's just him coming to terms with brain damage.
Has the promo and title mislead me or am i just stupid lol ? |

As an early prediction, I think we'll see the first Ultimate Big Brother highlights show around the 3.5m to 4m mark. (don't forget the 10pm hour last night up to 10:50pm would have averaged ~5m even if the 3 hour average was 4m)

At least anyone switching off Ultimate BB at the 11pm break will get a good nights sleep. That's one sight from the past I didn't want to see!
Great show though. |

But what about the company that built the viaduct in the first place? If people find out which company builds viaducts that collapse after a while then they will be out of business.
![]() Also, does anyone know how long Paul O'Grady's deal with ITV lasts for, is it one series or couple of years etc? Also just looking on the ITV Media site - came across this ( don't think it's been mentioned on here before, even though the orginal article is from May.) Quote:
ITV commissions new television film starring Sir David Jason, Good to see Sir David Jason in another new ITV drama ( on top of Albert's Memorial to be seen soon) since A Tocuh of Frost ended.Sir David Jason is to star in an emotional, contemporary family drama for ITV1 entitled Come Rain Come Shine. In his first role since he completed filming the final episodes of ITV1’s iconic A Touch of Frost, Sir David will play cockney ex-docker Don, a man whose family means everything to him....... Come Rain Come Shine is a 120 minute single drama ..... Filming begins in Leeds during June 2010 and will continue for four weeks. http://www.itvmedia.co.uk/inside-itv...ir-david-jason Also there seems to be quite a few Two hour specials i've heard about lately - i think ITV should try to copy the sucessfull "Monday Night Thrillers" strand and have them on at a set time i.e Sunday's in the winter for a month or two straight, rather than just having them anytime in the year. I'm sure there'd get better ratings that way. |

Has the promo and title mislead me or am i just stupid lol ? How would he have been given part of a brain? Did they give him a lobotomy and shove someone else's brain stem in there for jokes? The adverts made it quite clear that he is a changed person following an accident. It was an interesting and moving insight into someone's personality being altered by a massive coma and injury, and the impact on his family and friends - "it's just him coming to terms with brain damage." |

And yes the documentary was good and insightful. I was just under the impression this was one of those docs about a new surgery or something. |

US Tuesday Finals
NBC:
8pm - Minute To Win It - 6.18m (1.9) 9pm - America's Got Talent - 10.8m (3.1) * Up 7% from last week * #1 show of the night A18-49 & total viewers * Highest since July 14th ABC: 8pm - Wipeout - 7.98m (2.7) 9pm - Shaq vs - 3.84m (1.7) USA: 9pm - White Collar - 4.60m (1.3) * Season high 10pm - Covert Affairs - 5.87m (1.9) * Series high * #1 on cable A18-49 & total viewers TNT: 9pm - Hawthorne - 3.48m (1.0) 10pm - Memphis Beat - 3.86m (0.9) * 53% behind USA in the key demo Minute to Win It is doing OK for NBC, Shaq vs is squandering an awful lot of lead-in for ABC, however. NBC Universal can boast the top unscripted show with AGT on the flagship channel and also the top scripted show of the night with Covert Affairs on their cable channel. The debut series hit new highs for the second week in a row and is now the highest rated in the demo aside from HBO's True Blood. USA's Tuesday line-up is now as powerful as their Thursday pairing which will be seen as a real success this summer. While TNT is struggling to keep up the pace with USA on Tuesdays, it's drama duo is doing decent numbers and both will probably be renewed. Glee repeats are doing OK for FOX despite its serialised format. The 1.5 and 1.6 ratings for the repeats at 8 & 9pm topped the 1.4 and 1.3 ratings for NCIS and NCIS:LA - although the CBS shows roughly doubled Glee in total viewers. ratings from twitter.com/travisyanan |

Catching up on the weeks ratings & news again..
BBC1 Fantastic end for Masterchef and the high Thursday rating really surprised me, because there has been some fairly weak competition on Wednesday, but it still hasn't managed above 5m I don't think. Casualty ends on a low which is a shame, but the end of series thing doesn't really mean much anymore when there's a one week break. Seems to simply be to attract more viewers and have a little revamp each time. Hopefully it won't be put up against XF much, because even though it can hold a steady 3.5-4m, it's much lower than the 5-6m it should be achieving. The problem is BBC1 don't have many pre 9pm fillers that aren't new shows. ITV1 Fantastic return for XF, but unsurprising. I expect similar numbers this Saturday-should be at 8pm though imo. The big publicity this week and growing speculation over Cheryl should keep the ratings up for a while at least. Impressive stuff for Odd One In, probably benefiting from millions tuning in around 10 mins before, but still surprised the programme preecding XF did 1 million better than the programme post XF. Magic Numbers definitely for the axe now. Heartbeat continues to post solid numbers, reguarly in the top 10 shows for the week and it should go out on a high. The Corrie lead ins should help, but it's up against LOTSW this weekend. Impressed with the amount of drama coming up on ITV1 over the next few weeks on Sunday, Monday & Thursday. Surely inbetween the football etc on Wednesdays there will have to be drama repeats, because new drama on four days of the week is a lot for ITV1. FIVE Seems to have been a very good few days for them, bar DSB. Fantastic performance for How Do They Do It? in the Monday 7.30pm slot. Not much can make 1m in the tough 7.30 slot up against EE or Corrie. I would suspect a move to 8pm is waiting. Also fantastic for the CSI:Trilogy considering it was a repeat. Particuarly impressive for the 11pm show. ----- Looks like an interesting day on 10th September. One of the biggest TV event days this year imo. Just a shame BBC1 and Ch4's schedules have to clash. ITV1 will definitely be squeezed out and POG around 2.5-3m for sure. |
