Paul O'Grady did far worse than I expected but I think some of his audience might have been watching Big Brother. New Tricks did well but I think it would've done better on another night.

What were you expecting for POG?

Against BB and Corrie! that's amazing then. Wow EE probably would have got 12 million for this had it got no competition.

Putting that against the peak, it suggests only 23 million were watching between 20:00 and 20:40, meaning the "big night" didn't bring more viewers.

The POG Show was dreary so I can't see it doing well next week unless they change the chat-show element

I thought it would have nudged 5 million.

I expected around 4.3m.... but thats great still.

Really?? Who is this show aimed at?? I'm in my 30s so relatively old by demos standards, and this old man has no appeal to me whatsoever, who is it aimed at????

I think it was a shame that BB and EE had to clash, because both were the end of an era. I think BB could have cut Dermots Last Supper or put it on before the main show, because it wasn't really needed imo. The first show was always going to be down clashing with the big two, but I expected slightly more for the second episode. I think it's obvious that a lot just gave up on BB a while ago and I really hope FIVE don't get it, because it wouldn't be good for their image imo and the ratings would continue to fall.

After Thursday night I wasn't expecting a huge boost for EE, but still dissappointing nevertheless. If the BBC were rating grabbing they would have aired her exit on Monday, but they weren't and it wouldn't have felt right starting the week with Peggy's exit. Quite shocked at the figure for Queen Of The Vic-would have thought it to have retained a LOT more of the audience. But really 20 minutes to celebrate Peggy wasn't enough and there should have just been a one hour special on BBC3.

Very good for New Tricks-should boast an excellent timeshift aswell, probably around 1m. POG also holding up fairly well considering the competition and the awful slot, and it should increase next week. Surely ITV weren't expecting anything more than 4m for this considering the slot?!

EDIT: Just seen that amazing peak share for the 2nd BB...suggests the scheduling issues prevented BB from reaching its potential audience.

Well if the BBC were ratings Grabbers they could have moved Thursdays fire episode to wednesday(helped out Waterloo road) and then Peggy's exit Thursday and they could have used the excuse they didn't want the 10mins to clash with corrie

As predicted, BB did enough to dent EE - plus it still being summer. Was never going to be condusive to a 10m+ overnight figure despite what some people expected - the officials might be 10m or more though once people actually watch the episode.

The shocker for Corrie against the last 7 mins of EE and a 20 min BBC3esque schedule filler has been overlooked - 5.5m!

Nothing special for BB. POG will do much better once the 8.30 Corrie gives it a decent lead in - it retained a large proportion of Corrie's 5.5m.

Good for New New Tricks - but you do wonder what it would get on a September Sunday or Monday. 10m?

Paul O'Grady has cross generational appeal and he's quite popular with younger viewers. Had it not been for Big Brother i think he would have rated higher. He's popular with older viewers as well but they were glued to New Tricks.

Paul O'Grady's rating is actually not too bad. 3.5m from a poor Corrie lead-in, up against New Tricks premiere and the final BB (which had close to 4m in that hour) is alright IMO. Next week's rating will give us a much better view of if it's going to be a decent Friday night performer for ITV or not. If Corrie's 2nd episode next week is back to 7m+, PoG really should increase its numbers to 4m next week or at least hold them.

New Tricks did pretty well. It's 13% down from the previous series premiere but that's not bad all things considered and I have a feeling its ratings will grow next week. Unfortunate for EE that Peggy's last episode had to clash against BB - definitely capable of 10m+ on another night and with better promotion. It's not a terrible rating though - I think some people definitely over-predicted it when saying it could get 12m+. EE only tends to get 12m+ for episodes which are the culmination of big, long-running storylines which have been built up for months.

Channel 4's night overall was solid. I'm not sure if BB peaked with 4.1m or 5.0m - one source is saying 5m but a couple are saying 4.1m. Either way, it seems like most viewers who stopped watching in recent years didn't really care enough to tune back again. But for the BB fans who watched, I thought it was a fitting send-off.

Highly unlikely has been doing this show in daytime for ITV and Channel 4 for years. It's pretty much the same thing but in primetime.

POG held 63% of the Corrie audience - if Corrie had got 9m, POG might have had 5.5m. I think it will be a hit for ITV, even if it isn't great to see a daytime show airing at 9pm - from what I saw of POG, it was a carbon copy of his 5pm show.

I agree with all of that. New Tricks on another night would get some stellar ratings in the Autumn. Big Brother did okay but not spectacular numbers. I think the time was right to end it.

I think it will do better next week with a better Corrie lead in and no Big Brother. I think it may suffer again with Strictly Come Dancing's new series starting on Friday 1st October leading into New Tricks. I predict high ratings for both BBC1 shows on that night.

On reflection a solid Paul O'Grady figure considering a par record low for Coronation Street, it did well to have 3.5m off a 5.5m lead-in.

Channel 4 did well I guess, but part of me thought it would have been higher considering the Big Brother 11 final/UBB launch peaked at 5m.
