would you like them to return to the hard rap/rock stuff or pick up where they left off with the Minutes To Midnights kind of stuff?

I'd like them to do neither.

Their nu-metal material had it's time, but there's no bands out there making that sort of music anymore. All of Linkin Park's nu-metal contemporaries moved onto harder and more technical material (such as Disturbed and Slipknot), whilst LP have basically sold themselves out by copying current chart trends.

Their new single sounds absolute dire. They would be better off going back to the Hybrid Theory direction but they really did cease to be good since after Meteora.

I actually liked their third album "Minutes To Midnight". But then I am open to change while others are not happy unless their favourite bands churn out the same old shit, album after album. As for the new song I've only heard it once on the radio. I actually didn't know it was them until it was announced by the DJ after.

I like their older albums as well as their new direction with Minutes to Midnight. However I'd love the album to go in the same direction as New Divide. I just don't want an album that sounds exactly the same as one of their previous ones.

when the change is mainstream movie crap i.e Minutes To Midnight I think people are allowed to dislike them.

Yeah because their first album wasn't massively popular and mainstream.

Anyway people can like or dislike whatever they want.

In comparison to what they are now - they're more mainstream but less popular.

What does that say about them?

Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record In The World Today" was another new Linkin Park track, I was really impresssed, very raw, very heavy.

Think he said it was called Wretches and Kings? Zane said he's going to play it again. Bet it sounds even better second time.

Zane then went on to make the point that he likes how LP are not afraid "to shake off the shackles" and move forward and try different things musically. I agree.

I think they should've carried on with the sound of meteora, because it was the perfect blend of modern digital sounds with their rap/rock. minutes to midnight was well quite boring.

Heard about half the album so far. Laughably bad thus far, only one half decent track. What ever happened to these guys making rock music? I don't agree that to change style you need to change your whole bloody genre. Just look at Iron Maiden's new album for a perfect example of how to change style while still keeping a signiature sound. Linkin Park just sound like they've gone from a rock band to a combination of Justin Bieber and Basshunter.

Like I said earlier, I don't want to see them going nu-metal again, but come on guys - something heavier than this crap please!

I really don't like it, this is just bad. It's a shame because I used to idolise them when I was like 10, and I still don't mind putting Hybrid theory or Meteora on.

Also like to add that I'm not liking they're new "explicit" nature that they seem to just mindlessly chuck in. HT and Meteora were heavier than this and Minutes... and a lot more angrier yet they didn't have any swearing.

edit: I just read what I wrote and I sound like an old man

People who don't like it (which is a lot of people) aren't looking for another Hybrid Theory, it's just that it's a dissapointingly bad album.

Didn't like much of the 3rd album, really don't like the new single, wasn't expecting much from 'A Thousand Suns'.

9 tracks in and I am genuinely shocked at just how bad it is I don't want them to repeat the first 2 albums, but this is really poor so far....

3.5 stars on itunes out of 237 ratings - isn't looking that good.

I personally havent listened to it yet, but judging by the reviews it isnt worth buying

By itunes standards that's worse than bad

I hated minutes to midight. very embarassing. I'm nervous about this album because the first single is great but the other song I've heard "Blackout" is terrible

I wouldn't even the say that the single is any good, I'd actually say it's one of their worst...
