This New Year we've been an absolute shambles.

On the losing side of a 5-1 drubbing today after going in at the break 1-0 up. That's 8 we've let past us this weekend.

No idea where our next point is coming from and fear a repeat of last season. I believe I said it earlier this season in this thread and will say it again, "no Chester-types to save our skin this time".

Actually embarrassed to call myself a Tynesider at the moment.

A mixed programme for my team over the break. Nothing on over Christmas but we travelled to leaders Halifax for a 1400 kick off on New Years Day. Our previous match had beent he home match against them which they were perhaps a tad fortunate to shade by the only goal. In front of 4,023 at the Shay we took a lead midway through the 1st period with a penalty - our first penalty conversion since the opening day at Marine since which we've missed perhaps as many as 7!!

Soft equaliser conceded before half-time as our defense were not as switched on as Jamie Vardy who reacted to a loose ball after a corner. Their new signing from Mansfield - name escapes me - put them ahead just before the hour.

All to play for and we threatened to get back on terms but they caught us on the break for 2 more goals at the death to finish it off with a very flattering 4-1 scoreline.

Yesterday we hosted Ashton United and went a goal down in 5 minutes but never panicked. Equaliser from Mike Norton, his first goal since THAT winner at Rochdale on November 5th. The same player selflessly squared to Matty Wolfenden to put us ahead at the half hour mark. No further goals. Twas a huge relief to get some points on the board again after a very long lean spell. Now all the way up to 4th from the bottom Retford away next Saturday which - on paper anyway - should be very, very winnable as they are rock bottom with only 8 points accrued thus far. Hasta La Victoria Siempre!

We've not played in the league since November 13th!
What do you think about being in the BS North Vinnienet with Gloucester being so far from any other Club (par Redditch and your newly re-instated "sort of Derby" v Worcester City?

I like it. I've supported City for 20 years and in that time had only ventured north of the midlands about three times so last year did pretty much every away game and even did two midweek games in Manchester!

Driving to Darlington tomorrow, will be a nice trip.
Will be very tough, but I am positive we (AFC Wimbledon) can do this!

York taking 5,000 to Bolton (could have taken more, but sold out their south stand).

York sign striker Jamie Reed signed from Bangor for 100K. Apparently has a scoring rate of one a game.

A lot of money for a Welsh league player, but his videos on youtube show he's got class.

Cool that is interesting to know. It can't be easy being placed in the Division that Gloucester have been - at all.

So back to Superdry - I bet you wear a few of tyheir Jumpers over your Postie Shirt/Uniform hey hmm?

Sorry to read that Corby Chairman Peter Mallinger has passed away.

He was also Chairman at Kettering and a director at Newcastle United.

Very sad news. A big blow to Corby too, as he was their main backer.

Elsewhere Atherstone are resigning from the Southern League Midlands at the end of the current campaign as they can't sustain football at that level. At least they aren't overspending chasing the dream. They look set to return to the Midland Alliance next season.

Thurrocks young boss has quit after the 6-1 drubbing at Chelmsford and 7-2 home mauling against Dover in Conf Sth proved too much for him.

Big trouble at a couple of ex league clubs struggling to escape the Conference...

Wrexhams owners have transferred the stadium to a holding company to rent it back. We all know how these things end up....

Cambridge Utd are also struggling with money.

5 points deductions for Histon and Kidderminster for financial irregs.

The other Cambridge club, City, look set to be kicked out of their ground at the end of the season. Tragic for the Southern Prem title chasers.

Grays v Tilbury was a right messy one last week in Ryman Div 1 Nth, a big local derby and their first for 25 years. Horrendous violence there, along with the Conf Nth game between Telford and Nuneaton.

There was proper fun and games at Nunny, thats not the first time this season that they've had trouble.

In other new, Tim Flowers has quit at Stafford Rangers. It doesn't help that they're shit and have no money.

So, a week after being thumped 5-1 by Southport, we beat them 1-0 in the FA Trophy at their place.

So, in all competitions, since the New Year, Gateshead are P4, W 1 D1 L2

About usual form

Was sitting with Hampton's coach driver last night, he wasn't happy when I told him you had scored

Still paying for those days getting to the Conference I suppose. Well they've appointed another formed ex league player. Ex Leicester boss Matt Elliott is now in charge.

Its goodbye to our old friend Dean Holdsworth, who leaves Newport for Aldershot. He's done a superb job at County, even though they have wobbled a bit of late. Don't think Newport will make the play offs this season, but still a great achievement.
-----

News that affects my local step 4 division, the Ryman Div 1 Nth. Leyton have pulled out of the league due to mounting debts and non payment of fees, and with chairman, players and management all quitting it seems the club will fold.
They did have a brief high period a few years back, losing the Ryman Prem playoff final, but only got that far thanks to a crook of an owner who is now locked up. Since then they've collapsed and become one of the regular strugglers in Ryman Div 1.
So thats Bromsgrove and Leyton that have already been expelled with Ilkeston folding and Atherstone quitting the Southern league at the end of the season, so already 4 out of 12 relegation places have been sorted by mid season!

Good result against Luton during the week, happy with a point! Now we have to play Woking, will be tough but we should be able to win it if we play our best.

Well, we absolutely didn't play our best, shameful performance and an embarrassing result. Even though the FA Trophy is no priority, it's no reason to play how we did. And Crawley won in the end as well, bad day...

We up our performance in the cups (or lower them in the league?), which is quite worrying and lots of rumours of conspiracy theories!

We have a few players who are too good for our level, but due to personal problems or injuries are playing for us at the moment

Don't get me wrong btw, you played really well. But I'm more annoyed by the lack of passion from our side...

Good luck in the rest of the season though.
