NON-LEAGUE DAY ON SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER
Anyone going for the big three this weekend: 1) Blue Square Bet North = Bishop's Stortford vs Boston United, kick-off 12:30pm 2) Blue Square Bet South = Chelmsford City vs Dover Athletic, kick-off 15:30 pm 3) Blue Square Bet Premier = Braintree Town vs Lincoln City, kick-off 19:00 pm Blue Square are running a special coach to transport fans from game to game for just a £5.00 donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care, fans can hop on the coach at Bishop's Stortford and move on to the next two Essex destinations. How often does this happen? |

Would love to see the cash spashing tossers fleetwood implode some more and finish bottom half. |

When Grimsby Town lost ther match at home with Darlington last Saturday there was a bit of a ding dong with one of our managers and a fan at the end of the farce we try to call a game of football which is on You Tube so I hear. Monday and lost again this season is looking just like the last one and to think the new managers got rid of most of the last team so we could could have their rotten team instead, oh well, roll on the (next) new season. You have to laugh don't you, don't you?

2 good wins on the bounce for FC United. A 4-0 away win over Buxton on Saturday followed todayby a 5-2 home win against Bradford Park Avenue. Maybe this could be the year FC get into the Conference North.

Whatever happened to Deadwood Dan? We used to get a non league round up from him after every set of games.

He could be on his holidays or perhaps not well, whatever you are really missed so please come back as we need your input into the wonderful world of non-league.

My home town team Hyde F.C. are currently top of Conference North having won all six games, Not what most supporters expected after only avoiding relegation on the final day of last season.

This is a rotten Sunday; as I popped down to my local paper shop to get the best paper ever and I just stood looking at the gap that would normally have "The Non-league Paper" in it but for what ever reason the shop had none delivered today. Funny how it took twice as long to get home. Shame about Lincoln City (poor chimps!) though but anyone going to Braintree should be on guard as they are no push-over and will clobber you if they get half a chance.

I have to admit the chap serving in the shop did just what I did and looked at the place it should have been then he followed my lead with regard to it's non delivery and he made a rather poor show of being concerned then I said that I would call in on Monday which once again seemed to take away any need for him to think in any way about my paper so he wandered back to his till. I am hoping next time the shop cat will be there and then I might get a more resonsible resonce.

![]() We've got despised local rivals Stalybridge breathing down our necks though, who've only dropped two points so far.

Back in the days of my youth I could tell you at a moments notice the nickname and home ground of any league club. I mean clubs like Chelsea = The Pensioners NOT "The "Blues" = Stamford Bridge, I am old school. The non-league set up may well have taken place on a small planet one million light years away, my ignorance. Today and my club Grimsby Town are a part of that set-up and I have no axe to grind there. What I have found is that this a world I have discovered has many clubs all with great nicknames and football grounds with names that go back in history much further than the money based clubs up in the big time. Is there one source where I can find all those facts on the Non-league set-up? I read the NLP who often mention the nicknames and grounds but I want a web-site or book that I can go to and view all of them, any hope?

it's "kind of" the replacement for this site. http://tonykempster.co.uk/ Tony Kempster was a man who produced the equivalent of a Non League encyclopaedia until he sadly passed away a couple of years ago. |

not a bad start for my non league club, boston united. lost some key players over the summer and midtable is my expectation. got 11 points after 7 games, defence looks solid but were very weak up front at the moment. just need to win at home soon and hope we can do that against solihull this weekend. hyde and stalybridge are cruising at the moment, could do with them slipping up but hyde in paticular are winning most games easily.
great to see gateshead doing well in the prem. im sure they are not expected so stay at the top end but well done to them on their start. |
