A sweet late winner winner from Wilde gave us all three points today against Chasetown. One point off the top now with quite a big game looming next Saturday, a bit sooner than expected against FC Utd.

Chasetown today were one of the most negative sides I've ever seen down at the Deva and the worst time wasters to boot.

Tough tie for us tomorrow. Luton away.

Tuesday 12th April, Essex Olympian Div 2 (step 9) - Leigh Ramblers 2-6 Burnham Ramblers Reserves. All Essex Senior League Reserve sides no longer participate in the Olympian, since moved to a new Essex Senior Reserve League.
Same day: Essex Senior League (step 5) - Southend Manor 0-1 Witham Town. Witham won to secure third place effectively from Manor.

Wednesday 13th April, Essex Olympian Div 2 again - Upminster 2-8 Takeley Reserves. Upminster down to eight men I think due to red cards/injuries and totally collapsed. Upminster finished mid table.
Same day, Essex Senior League - Bowers & Pitsea 3-1 Barkingside. Two struggling teams, with Barkingside in the end losing 14 or so on the spin, amazing considering they're usually near the top. Both teams finished lower mid-table.

Thursday 14th April, Essex Olympian League Div 2 again - Leigh Ramblers 0-0 Maldon St Marys. In the end Leigh avoided relegation. Maldon have since moved to the Essex & Suffolk Border league.
Same day, Essex Senior League - Hullbridge Sports 1-0 Southend Manor. Local derby, surprise result.

Saturday 16th April, Essex Senior League - Enfield 1893 1-1 Stansted. In front of 234 at Goldsdown Rd, the reformed original Enfield nearly won the title from then current champs Stansted, but were denied by late equaliser to keep Stansteds slim title hopes alive (a fixture backlog saw them throw the league away). Enfield got the point they needed the following final weekend, winning 6-2 at Clapton to win the title, but not promotion as they hoped...

Monday 18th April, Essex Senior League - Barkingside 3-1 Bethnal Green. Barkingside finally ended their shocking run with a win over a good Bethnal Green side.

Tuesday 19th April, Essex Olympian Div 1 (step 8), Sandon Royals 2-3 Benfleet. Saw over half of game. Sandons promotion hopes dented by mid-table Benfleet.
Same day, Essex Senior League, Takeley 0-2 Stansted. 221 here for this rearranged local derby, also to mark the opening of new club stand, terrace, food area and other improvements. Takeley one of the few local sides in recent years to jump from Parks to senior footie.

Wednesday 20th April, Essex Olympian Prem. Epping 2-3 Frenford. At place of former Epping FC of Isthmian fame before going bust in 80s. Floodlights and stand have gone, just a little bit of terracing remains of ground now. Essentially a park pitch these days. Great display against title chasers but in the end lost, as Epping finished bottom in the end and were relegated.

Good Friday 22nd April, Ryman Prem, Billericay 1-2 Croydon Athletic. Troubled Croydon are relegated despite the result, but shattered Billericays playoff hopes after a poor performance.

Saturday 23rd April, Ryman Div 1 Nth, Redbridge 0-3 East Thurrock. Easy win secured ETU the title and promotion to Ryman Prem after a three year absence and playoff heartache.

BH Monday 25th April, Ryman Prem, Canvey 0-4 Concord Rangers. Big Island derby, last home game of season and nearly 1,200 for this one, Canveys biggest attendance since their Conference days. Canveys shocking performance on the big day would cost them a playoff place in the end on goal difference. Minnows Concord in their first season since promotion had just dropped off the pace the previous week, so also missed out on playoffs, but will have been delighted to do double over their more illustrious neighbours.

Tuesday 26th April, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem (step 7) - Earls Colne 3-0 Great Bentley. Good win but in the end not enough to save Earls Colne from the drop weeks later.

Wednesday 27th April, Essex & Suffolk Border Div 1 (step 8) - St Osyth 3-0 Mersea Island. Nice trip to the coast in lovely spring weather in a mid-table dead rubber of a game.

Thursday 28th April, Ridgeons Eastern Counties Div 1 (step 6) - Halstead 1-0 Team Bury. Mid-table end of season affair with Bury Towns reserve team losing.

Saturday 30th April, Essex & Suffolk Border Div 1 (step 8) - Barnston 1-2 Boxted Lodgers. Early KO with BBQ provided! Mid-table game, Barnston doing better than they were in the Olympian League, but not this game!
Same day, BSS - Chelmsford 3-1 Hampton & Richmond. Secured Citys playoff place for third year running.

BH Monday 2nd May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem (step 7) - Holland 2-2 Hatfield Peverel. Not the Dutch masters but this Clacton based side play in Orange! Hat Pev got a useful point and a late run of form kept them in the division.

Tuesday 3rd May, Essex Olympian Prem (step 7) - Kelvedon Hatch 2-1 Mountnessing. Hatch were going for title and when I left at HT were cruising 2-0 against a side fighting to avoid drop. Mountnessing (play at Brentwood's ground, now called Harold Hill) came back though and nearly drew, but despite result avoided the drop.
Same day, BSS Playoff semi-final first leg - Chelmsford 1-4 Ebbsfleet. Tie effectively over already as brilliant Fleet breezed past woeful Clarets. Last floodlit game/double header of season.

Wednesday 4th May, Essex Olympian Prem - Galleywood 1-2 Manford Way. Just left to park pitches now as higher leagues wrapped up. Manford had just dropped out of title race, but this win confirmed Galleywood would finish in relegation places. Luckily for them Ongar dropped down a division for some reason, so they stayed up, but are really struggling this season, no points and heavy defeats aplenty.

Saturday 7th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem, Tiptree Jobserve 0-11 Wormingford Wanderers. No joke, though Tiptree were a joke. Could've been 8-20 this game, mad! Mid table Wormingford virtually condemned the home side to relegation with this result. 5-0 at HT.
Same day, same division, Gas Recreation 5-2 Harwich & Parkeston. Caught tail end of this game not that many miles north of Tiptree in Colchester, due to the first game starting at 2pm. Gas have been champions for last few seasons, and this win against ex Ridgeons/FA Amateur cup finalists Harwich kept their hopes of retaining title alive. Harwich finding their feet again slowly since resigning from Ridgeons, though nearly went down last season. Doing much better now.

Tuesday 10th May, Essex Olympian Div 1 - Sandon Royals 1-3 Hutton. Win against promotion rivals secured promotion for Hutton and later the title. Have met the Hutton boss a few times, really nice down to earth guy.

Wednesday 11th May, Essex Olympian Prem - Ongar 0-1 Harold Wood Athletic. Late winner kept Woods hopes of retaining title alive.

Thursday 12th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem - Alresford Colne Rangers 0-5 Rowhedge. Easy derby win for Rowhedge who finished impressive fourth in first season since promotion, behind the 'big three' (Brightlingsea, Gas Rec, West Bergholt).

Friday 13th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem - Sudbury Athletic 7-1 Holland FC. Not to be confused with AFC Sudbury as I crossed into Suffolk, just. Lucky to get a game on after some Holland players got caught in a crash en-route to the game. Easy win for Sudbury as Holland players got red cards or injured to retire during the game.

Saturday 14th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem - Hatfield Peverel 0-3 Gas Recreation. After being put under big pressure first half, Gas took advantage of strong wind to dominate second half, helped by a freak goal blown in by the wind. Noon start for this early KO.
Same day, Essex & Suffolk Border Div 1 - Gosfield 0-4 Lawford Lads. Lawford easily won in the end to secure the title, having already secured promotion.

Tuesday 17th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Div 1 - Lawford Lads 4-3 Clare Town. Champions hung on for thrilling win. New clubhouse was being built at time with community facilities, and now open. Clare have now pulled out of league and switched to Cambridgeshire league,

Wednesday 18th May, Essex Olympian Prem - Harold Wood Athletic 5-2 Westhamians. Wood win to keep title hopes alive.

Saturday 21st May, Essex & Suffolk Border Div 1 - Coggesshall Town 2-3 Gosfield. This is same club who were in Essex Senior League in 70s and 80s, before financial problems and poor league form forced them out. Still play at old ground, but floodlights have gone and seating area is falling apart. This shock defeat all but ended their slim promotion hopes.

Tuesday 24th May, Essex Olympian Prem - Maye & Baker (M&B) Club 3-2 Manford Way. End of season mid-table game in Dagenham.

Wednesday 25th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem - Tiptree Jobserve 0-3 Brightlingsea Regent. Bottom v top but not the scoreline I feared, as Brightlingsea barely got going. They had just clinched the title, dethroning Gas Recreation, and accepted promotion back to the Ridgeons (step 6) div 1 after a nine year absence, when they pulled out in 2002 (when called Brightlingsea Utd before merging with Regent FC in the same town). BR had an amazing record last season - P34, W31, D2, L1. Two draws against 2nd and 3rd, and loss to the 2nd side Gas, who themselves only lost one game all season and still didn't win the league!

Friday 27th May, Essex & Suffolk Border Prem - Wormingford Wanderers 0-1 West Bergholt. Match played at Bergholt on the eve of the last day of the season. End of season affair with Bergholt long confirmed in third place, but disappointed not to contest title after poor end to season.

Saturday 28th May, Essex Olympian Prem - Harold Wood Athletic 3-0 Frenford Senior. Last league games for Olympian and Border Leagues for the season. Chose extraordinary last game, as results in previous weeks, combined with no shows by different sides against the top two in the previous two weeks ('giving' them both three points by default), meant Harold Wood needed to win by five goals to retain the title from Kelvedon Hatch on goal difference, that tight! Hatch had finished the season the weekend before. Wood went 1-0 up early but were unable to score again til after half time. They still had good time to score another three but began running out of steam. Got a third with about ten minutes left to give them hope, but Frenford who were in the race for most of the season put up a good fight and denied Wood the final two goals, meaning Hatch were champions, just!

Saturday 4th June, Ipwsich & Norwich Legends XI v Essex & Suffolk Border XI - special Help for Heroes match with a few hundred present at Colchester Utds community stadium. Good to go to this ground for the first time. Matt Holland, Bryan Gunn, Jeremy Goss, etc were all playing. Match ended 4-4 as Legends came back from 4-1 down against the best of the Essex & Suffolk Border League. Good way to bring down season 2010-11, mostly on parks pitches for those final weeks.

2010/11

BSP
Champions: Creepy Crawley
Play-offs. Luton easily overcame Wrexham, AFC Wimbledon murdered Fleetwood and beat Hatters on pens in final.
Relegated: Altrincham (Conf Nth) at last! Eastbourne Boro after three seasons (to Conf Sth) and Histon to Conf Nth as their bubble bursts. Southport spared after Rushdens demise.

BSN:
Champions: Alfreton.
Playoffs: AFC Telford promoted back to Conference for first time since folding in 2004, denying Guiseley a second straight promotion in the final. They beat Nuneaton and Boston Utd respectively.
Relegated: Just two clubs after Ilkestons early season demise. Crisis hit Redditch went down early to Southern Prem, and the once mighty Stafford Rangers dropped to Northern Prem.

BSS:
Champions: Braintree - upto BSP for first time in their history. Then of course the saga with Rod Stringer quitting cos they offered him a dodgy car to get to games! Alan Devonshire (ex Hammer of BSS Hampton & Richmond) now boss
Playoff winners: Ebbsfleet immediately back in BSP after winning final at Farnborough, whose boss Steve King and big money players left soon after. They beat Chelmsford and Woking respectively.
Relegated: Crisis hit St Albans to Southern Prem, then Lewes fall from grace continued in relegation to Ryman Prem. Steve King now back in charge there after getting the boot when he took Lewes to BSP. Thurrock reprieved after Rushdens demise.
Bishops Stortford controversially switched to BSN in the summer to balance numbers as result.

Ryman Prem:
Champions: Sutton to BSS, back on the up.
Playoffs: Tonbridge Angels beat Lowestoft 4-3 in the final to get promoted to BSS and deny Trawlerboys second promotion in a row. Angels beat Harrow in the semi final, while Lowestoft won their Suffolk semi at Bury in front of over 1500 to deny them a second successive jump.
Relegated: Troubled Croydon Athletic, Folkestone Invicta both straight back down to div 1 Sth. Maidstone also slip back to that division but have finally got permission for new ground after all these years! Aveley reprieved a drop back to div 1 Nth after two years due to Rushden saga.

Div 1 Nth:
Champions: East Thurrock to Ryman Prem after three year absence.
Playoffs: Wingate & Finchley beat Brentwood after extra time to get promotion to Ryman Prem. Long time leaders Needham Market lost at home to Brentwood to deny them a second successive promotion, while Wingate beat Harlow in the other semi.
No sides relegated. Leyton pulled out mid-season. Waltham Forest easily ended bottom but had enough PPG to avoid a drop into Essex Senior League.
Leiston were promoted as Ridgeons Prem champions to join div 1 Nth.
Enfield 1893 the Essex Senior League champs originally accepted for promotion to div 1 Nth. However landlords Enfield Town took most of stuff in ground like seats to kit out their own new stadium, leaving 1893 with just days to effectively build a new stadium, which they couldn't do, so application rejected.
Soham Town Rangers switched from Southern Div 1 Cent to Ryman Div 1 Nth.
Chatham reprieved from relegation from Ryman Div 1 Sth, switched to div 1 Nth.

Div 1 Sth:
Long time leaders Bognor pipped on last day, drawing at Chatham, as Met Police stole the crown and promotion as champions to Ryman Prem.
Play-offs: Bognor then lose playoff semi to a Dulwich side who finished a massive 35 points behind them! Leatherhead won their semi and beat Dulwich to return to Prem after near 30 year absence.
Horsham YMCA relegated back to Sussex League after just two years. Chatham spared drop to Kent League, switched to div 1 Nth.
Kent League Champs Hythe joined div 1 Sth this season.
Crawley Down promoted as champs of Sussex League to div 1 Sth.
Fleet switched from div 1 Sth to Southern league.

Southern Prem:
Champions: Truro - latest promotion now sees them in BSS.
Playoffs: Hednesford saw off Leamington whilst Salisbury beat Cambridge City in semis. Salisbury won final to start their climb back to BSP after their demotion, now at BSS.
Relegated: Only three went down after Windsor & Etons demise mid season. Tiverton finally went down, along with crisis club Halesowen, and Didcot join them again after Weymouth just avoided a third successive drop.

Div 1 Cent:
Champions: Extraordinary situation where Arlesey celebrated the title a few games before the end as they couldn't be caught. Then they get docked 9 points for fielding an ineligible player! It then meant they had to win at new leaders Hitchin to definately be champions, and they did.
Playoffs: No playoff heartache this time for Hitchin, back in Southern Prem after two seasons away, beating Daventry in the final, after both sides beat Slough and Biggleswade in the semis respectively. Slough look set to move back into the town again soon, stopping their rot hopefully.
Atherstone pulled out of the league (to Midland Alliance) due to financial reasons. Bottom side Beaconsfield reprieved due to a beter PPG than other 'relegated' clubs.
In the summer, Soham moved to Ryman div 1 Nth, while Fleet joined from Ryman div 1 Sth.

Div 1 S&W:
AFC Totton champions, atoning their narrow miss-out the season before, promotion to Southern Prem.
Frome won playoffs in second season at step 4, seeing off close runners up Sholing, as well as Mangotsfield and Thatcham.
Bromsgrove Rovers pre-season demise and Almondsbury folding due to no ground in May meant rock bottom Andover were spared the drop. However off field problems forced the club under in the summer, meaning Div 1 S&W again only has 21 teams this season.
Wessex league Poole finally promoted back to this level after finally getting approval to progress after minor work accepted for current home.

NPL Prem:
Champs: As discussed months back, FC Halifax won title by miles, promoted to BSN.
Playoffs: Colwyn Bay beat FC utd in final to secure B2B promotions to BSN.
Relegated: Another crisis club Hucknall dropped further to div 1 Sth, just staying afloat. Retford also went down but dropped further back to Northern Counties East due to money woes. Ossett Town were also relegated. Burscough were reprieved due to better PPG.
Hednesford switched back to this division in the summer.

Div 1 Nth:
Champs: Chester, just, by two goals from Skelmersdale, starting their rise back up the pyramid, to NPLPrem.
Playoffs: Skelm fell in the playoffs again, as once again did Curzon Ashton and AFC Fylde. Chorley under Garry Flitcroft won thru to join Chester.
Relegated: Leigh Genesis (ex Conf club RMI) relegated, but fold completely before they can join NW Counties league. Sad news. Ossett Albion reprieved due to better PPG.
Farsley reformed join Div 1 Nth in summer after winning Northern Counties East at first attempt.

Div 1 Sth:
Champions: Barwell get second promotion on bounce.
Playoffs: Rushall Olympic overcome runners-up Newcastle Town, Brigg and Grantham to join Barwell to NPLPrem.
Relegated: Spalding after several reprieves finally drop into United Counties League. Shepshed Dynamo spared due to Glapwell resigning from league and folding due to ground issues.
Coalville promoted to div 1 S as champions of Midland Alliance, pipping Tipton.
New Mills NW Counties Champs promoted to div 1 Sth as well.

Other side issues:
Whitley Bay won Vase for third year on trot, beating Coalville. Applied at last for promotion to step 4 but missed out on goal difference for second place to Consett (who didn't apply, nor did champions Spennymoor). Whether the Bay would have gone ahead with promotion is unsure.
Welland Rovers won Western League title but did not want to go up, nor runners up.
Rossendale United, a Unibond side a year or so ago, folded completely in the summer.

Think I've caught up now. Just August onwards to sort out

Redditch cancel player's registration for 'hitting' referee

Redditch United have cancelled the registration of Josh McKenzie after he struck a referee, leading to the abandonment of their match against Chesham United.

The player, who had scored two goals in his last two games, reacted badly to conceding a penalty.

The club said he "hit" the official, who immediately ended the Southern Premier Division fixture.

McKenzie was arrested and cautioned at the local police station.

Redditch said on their website they were "outraged" by the incident.

Chairman Chris Swan told BBC Sport: "I couldn't believe my eyes. The referee stood there for a second and then he just went down.

"It was just astounding. We had to get Josh off as quickly as possible and get him into the changing rooms because he was obviously very heated."

There's just no way that he'll have anything to do with Redditch United ever again

The game was called off with Chesham leading 1-0 and Swan had no qualms with the decision.

"I'll go with whatever the referee says," he commented. "If the referee wanted to carry on playing or to abandon it, that's his call.

"In fairness, he'd been through what must have been a very traumatic incident.

"He [McKenzie] was not on the team bus going back. I've just been to the police station to drop off some money so he can get home. But that's it.

"There's just no way that he'll have anything to do with Redditch United ever again."

A statement on the club's website said: "We pride ourselves on fair play and will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. The team has worked very hard over the past few weeks and we will not let this one individual tarnish the reputation of our much-loved club.

So the next round of he FA Cup has been drawn, and the "Mighty" Dabbers have been drawn at home to Nuneaton!

I think that I will defo be going to that!

AFC Telford United fan here, I'm a Newcastle fan have been since I was a kid, but lived in the West Midlands sinc I was 8 and now support my local club too (well since 2004 but lol)

Painful against Ebbsfleet but still onwards and upwards, and we've been drawn against Gainsborough Trinity in the FA Cup in a home tie, feeling confident!

Out of the FA Cup... Least it means we've been able to reschedule Truro vs Woking to a Saturday rather than going there on a Tuesday in December!

South Tyne derby as Gateshead play Hebburn Town. Looking forward to that game.

Hopefully get back to winning, or at least not getting beat, ways tonight against Southport.

Last minute goal conceded to Forest Green Rovers, for crying out loud, set pieces again.

After a bit of controversy over whether it was an own goal or not, Gateshead's winning goal in their 2-1 win over Telford has been given to Jon Shaw after DVD footage proved it was his.

DVD?! How old school and quient, why was there not a Blu-Ray copy available?!
