Finally the Conference season starts tomorrow.

We've got Kidderminster away. What about you?

Never mind the Conference. I'm niggled that I'm missing Guernsey's venture into Ryman South $ miles down the road at Herne Bay

Lost 3-1 to Kidderminster Harriers. Not the best start to the season.

They will be one of the favourites though so not a disaster.

Luton still keep giving us Watford fans a good laugh.

I guess you're right,

It was roughly this time last year when we drew 2-2 with Luton down at Kenilworth Road on the opening day of the Conference season.

They just spend so much money for your level changing players and managers yet seem to get worse each season - if they are not careful the money problems will re-surface.

I just love the way SOME fans think they have a right to go up just because they have the biggest support - belittling the other clubs.

Rumours that Anth Smith has offered his resignation as manager of Gateshead after the Heed's third straight defeat.

Hyde got their first point of the season today, 2-2 at home against Hereford, unbelievebly that's enough to lift them out of the bottom four.

And he's gone:

Gateshead are even more dysfunctional than Luton.

I wouldn't go that far

Lot's of names being thrown about by the fans so far. Gary Mills is a popular choice.

A post about Step 5 / FA Competitions and AFA football looking back to the early 1980's, for anyone interested;

What's your feeling on this? I've seen the Heed a few times and they were fairly dreadful. Lot of released academy players from Newcastle in the ranks.

Smith seemed to be well out of his depth in terms of tactics and coaching and although the start wasn't great (a difficult 3 games) its the whole past season as well but Wood seems to have taken the resignation personally?

To me, with Wood's money Gateshead are fighting well above their weight. Only 600 odd on Saturday with Newcastle away and no cricket or rugby on, I don't know what they can do? I hate watching football at the Int Stadium but surely Gateshead have a market?

I find it depressing that Gateshead under Bogie were aiming for promotion and now are just happy to survive

The Heed are inconsistent. They can put on a good display and this year we have amassed a good side, but unfortunately we can play poorly as well.

The resignation thing is a mess. I've read the articles in the local press and on the BBC site and it seems that Smith offered his resignation thinking no one would take it seriously. It does seem that the club I love have made a joke of themselves.

I would love us to get out of the Stadium. It's out of the way and the stand is miles away from the pitch. The new stadium I think has been moved until 2015 now.

We've always had problems getting the punters to come to the games. Advertising campaigns and back to back promotions has helped, but sadly in Gateshead everyone is nearly always a Newcastle or Sunderland fan and supporting their local club seems an alien concept.

Graeme Wood is still aiming for promotion to the league. We've taken another setback in that aim, but I firmly believe if we get out act together, we can achieve that.

Quite topically, Gateshead have announced a fans partnership with Newcastle United.

Quote:
“Newcastle United have cemented their close relationship with neighbours Gateshead Football Club after agreeing a partnership which will make football even more affordable for fans across Tyneside.

The clubs have teamed up to offer all Newcastle United members discounted entry to all of the Heed's home Football Conference Premier League fixtures during the 2013/14 season, with an adult and junior able to see 90 minutes of action for just £11 combined per match.

On presenting a valid Newcastle United season ticket or membership card, Toon fans will be able to benefit from entry priced at just £9 for adults – a saving of £5 – while under-16s can already gain access for only £2 when accompanied by an adult.”

Come on folks, get down there to support them

Dartford at home to Braintree town tomorrow in the conference. 1 win and 2 losses so far. 3 points needed.

Southport away today.

After three straight defeats, could do with at least a point, but I don't really fancy us to be honest.

Dartford lost 2-0 at home. Very poor performance plus it rained throughout. Should have stayed in the warm.

I'm not sure if anyone would be as idiotic to take the job.

It was a mistake for us to hire from within.

Played four, lost four, rooted on zero. Depressing.

It took Kidderminster 6 games to get one point last season so based on that you should expect to end up on around 100 points!

Dartford at home to Lincoln City Saturday. Should be a good game. Great to see all these ex league teams playing little old Dartford.
