Cambridge heading back to the Football League, 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go. Gateshead have been utterly awful today, seem to have totally frozen on the big stage. Cambridge haven't been much better in truth but have done enough to deserve to win.

Hold on, Gateshead have got a goal out of nowhere, 10 minutes to get an (honestly massively underserved) equaliser.

Cambridge win promotion back to the Football League, good news for all Southern based League 2 clubs, we don't have to trek to Gateshead.

I have no complaints about yesterday. We were beaten by the better side and I have never been prouder to be a Heed fan.

Hereford in particular are in dire trouble, they need to have satisfied their creditors by the time the Conference AGM takes place next weekend in order to be allowed in next season.
I'm keeping an eye on it as my local side Chester would stand to benefit from any expulsions by being reprieved from relegation. If 2 were expelled then Dartford would also be reprieved. |

Looks like Hereford will be expelled
3pm deadline for assurances not met From the Hereford times: The cash-strapped club have been warned they must pay their football creditors in full by 5pm tonight (Thursday) or face expulsion from the Football Conference. Some of United’s staff had been assured by the club they would be paid outstanding wages before 3pm today – but the money has not arrived. London businessman Tommy Agombar has been officially revealed this week as United’s new owner with David Keyte continuing as chairman. http://bit.ly/1i67Y1h |

Makes all that last minute drama and emotion on the final day seem rather hollow.

From what I can tell, Macclesfield are now out of the woods, while Hereford have apparently proved they can clear their debts and will be allowed to stay in the Conference provided they do so by 10AM tomorrow.

Hereford have blown their reprieve; they didn't make their payments in time and have now been expelled from the Football Conference, altogether which presumably reprieves Chester in the National division, and Hayes and Yeading in the South division.

Nothing on the Hereford website, but it has been said on Sky Sports News that Hereford have been expelled from the league.

Confirmed now on the BBC website; Hereford are gone, and both Chester and Hayes & Yeading have been reprieved from relegation. Hereford's fans are talking about setting up a new club even if the current one avoids going to the wall (which seems unlikely, given that they have debts approaching one-and-a-half million and at best will be playing in the Southern League next season).
On top of that, it seems like the Conference drew up plans for all eventualities at the weekend. If Macclesfield or Salisbury get chucked out, then Dartford will stay in the Premier, and Tonbridge will stay in the South. And if they both get chucked out, Tamworth get to stay in the Premier, and Histon in the North. Bloody crazy stuff... |

The Statement from the hereford Supporters Trust :
The Board of Hereford United Supporters Trust, as well as all supporters of Hereford United are extremely saddened and angry at the expulsion of Hereford United from the Football Conference. Tommy Agombar assured supporters on Friday morning that the club’s admin staff would be paid that day. That did not happen. On Friday afternoon, Agombar’s accountant and David Keyte assured the Conference that they would meet the Conference demands as laid out to them. That did not happen. The fans of this 90 year old football club have been left in the dark about the situation ongoing at the club, and have been misled in believing bills would be paid which have ultimately been left unsatisfied. We demand answers from Tommy Agombar and David Keyte as to why they have misled supporters, and their loyal staff, with promises of payment and why they have played a game of high stakes poker with a football club of which, during it’s 90 year history, they are only temporary custodians. Generations of fans are the real Hereford United and generations more will not be deprived of the club their families love. With Tommy Agombar having repeatedly told HUST officials, and other fans, that he has the money to cover the bills, we demand that all outstanding wages are settled with both current and former staff with immediate effect as he has promised to do on so many occasions. Our £1 offer remains on the table, having never been rejected, and we are prepared to investigate pathways to take the club forward if the current owners do not wish to make good on their promises, having done much groundwork with Supporters Direct and our experienced advisers already. HUST June 10th, 2014. Must be a nightmare for them with not only the owner not telling the truth but the accountant as well ! |
